Rabwah was renamed forcefully by governmet of Pakistan against the wishes of its residents, in 1999 to "CHENAB NAGAR". It was the direct result of efforts by Orthodox, Almi Majlis e Tahaffuze Khatme Nabuwwat. According to them the word "RABWAH" appears in the Quran as the resting place for Jesus and his mother Mary and thus its use by a Ahmadiyya community is forbidden under in Pakistan Constitution. |
