Normally I will answer on your talk page, unless you request otherwise; I will normally check both pages. If you are editing whilst not logged in, I will reply both on my talk page and yours to increase the chance that you see the message (talk messages to IPs sometimes get lost). I will keep most comments posted on the page, but I reserve the right to refactor comments, archive comments, and trap excessively long signatures in modified AfD closing boxes. I may also use {{RPA}} when appropriate. --ais523

Thanks for the info. Looks like the user who removed it isn't even an admin. Can he do that? Anyway, looks like my request got done anyway, so no big deal.Ekajati (yakity-yak) 14:24, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

http://en.wikipedia.org/John_Powers_%28poet%29
I saw a referral stat come from this page about me... http://en.wikipedia.org/John_Powers_%28poet%29 Didn't know that was out there. Noticed you flagged it for deletion which I am fine with, even though its factual regarding my writing career/
No idea how to provide reference other than a copy of the bio from one of my books: http://www.gotpoetry.com/Sections/op=viewarticle/artid=12.html http://www.amazon.com/dp/1893972003?tag=gotpoetry-20&camp=14573&creative=327641&linkCode=as1&creativeASIN=1893972003&adid=1DETQHYPVBWVX9945G6M& so if thats not what is needed, I'd say go ahead and remove it.
- The BLP rule is for your own protection; if an article has no sources, it's possible it contains factual errors, and an article containing factual errors might incorrectly reflect negatively on the person it's about. I'll add the Amazon source to the article and remove the proposed-deletion tag; now there's a source, any further deletion attempts should probably have a debate. --ais523 08:44, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
Edit counter
Hi! Although not a large scale editor I was intrigued enough to see what I had done, having now moved my Image contributions to Wiki Commons. I was somewhat surprised to note that I seemed to have a lot of User talk edits. Then I realised that this would be due to me using Vandal Proof and automatically creating warnings. Would it be feasible to have your editor show the VP created User:talk warnings as a seperate item to normal User talk messages? Please answer on my Talk page. Thanks for your quick response over on the Technical Village Pump! I haven't an inkling on how to write Javascript, and that little tool is going to save me a lot of work in the future. GeeJo ⁄(c) • 14:04, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Help moving page
Thanks much for your help. I thought my account was more than 1 day old, but I guess the account doesn't become active until one actually either posts to Wiki or creates a User Page!? Anyway, many thanks again! Dave 16:03, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the help; while that wasn't THE response I wanted, it does help. Now if only they start letting me bomb vandals instead of block... Scoutersig 16:58, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

Pokémon table
Thanks for your idea on fixing the Pokémon table; it's far, far less hacky than the invisible 999s, and completely inconspicous to the average reader. Laïka 15:22, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your response - followup question
I am nearing completion of the development of PockBot, a wikibot currently under Request for Approval. I am unsure how to make PockBot add entries to articles, there seems to be a system of edit tokens etc that stops it from simply adding data from GET request over HTTP via impersonating a user request. I could do with some help please in knowing how to write to a wikipedia page from a Perl script via HTTP. - PocklingtonDan 13:48, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
- The source code of User:Pearle, a bot written in Perl, is publically available as far as I can remember, so you might want to see how that bot does it. Most bots (my bot, for instance) operate by visiting the edit page (the same way a human would) using GET, reading the information and the tokens, and then submitting by faking a form-send from the page (using POST). (Bot523 actually uses a Web browser to do this; there are other methods, however.) Hope that helps; you might want to ask the bot owner's noticeboard for more information, although it's quite low-traffic. --ais523 13:53, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your incredibly quick response t my query, hadn't tried that before and figured i'd be waiting days for a response, so thanks. I will take a look at the Pearle source code as you suggest but IIRC that's a pretty huge bit of code so I might be hunting for a while. WOuld it be possible to see the relevant code from your Bot523? I take it makes a GET request and then screen-scrapes the edit token etc out? This should be compatible with my bot. I have made several stabs at it but can't get it to work (the shame!). I will take a look at Pearle but if you were able to show me code you got to work for Bot523 it would be greatly appreicated. Cheers - PocklingtonDan 13:58, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, I see now your bot is in javascript. The exact POST/GET strings you use would probably still help though if possible - PocklingtonDan 14:00, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Alderney
Hi.
Thanx for your comments re my question about listing of Alderney as a separate country.
I wasn't born here, but I have a 'British Islands, Bailiwick of Guernsey' passport and am proud of it. Therefore maybe the 'Nationality Law' argument is somewhat doubtful?
However, since I managed to persuade Sage to change their Country listings so we could legally register our correct address, it appears that some people recognise that a person's 'Country'is important to them.
Let's face it, with our own flag, Government and also Laws, what else do we need to prove we are a soveriegn State?
Our annual visitors also are pleased to come to a place that sticks to it's own way of life, whatever the rest of the World is doing - rushing about going nowhere seems to be the current occupation!
There will always be those who think that they know best how to catagorise other people, places, things; however, we do not try to force our way of life on anyone, so we appreciate anyone who doesn't try to do that to us!
I hope the person/s responsible for Country listing read this and search their consciences before writing us off as part of the UK! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.73.217.30 (talk) 10:24, 6 December 2006 (UTC).

Re: How to format this?
Hi. I've tried to clarify the question on my talk page. Thanks. Xiner (talk, email) 18:39, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
- Hmm, you're right, it works fine in IE7 too. I'll ask like you said. Thanks. Xiner (talk, email) 18:47, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
- Well, actually, your suggested fix worked for display in Firefox and didn't change the rendering in IE, so I think it's a browser issue. Thanks. Xiner (talk, email) 18:50, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Splitting a Talk Page
In my talk page it has a lot to do with Petrarch. This is my hobby now that I am retired. I see that I am geting pretty long on my Talk Page, however I have much more I would like to put there. Is there a way that a section or sections could be just referenced someplace (i.e. "Further on Petrarch") and then essentually another ("sub")Talk Page. This way the FIRST Talk Page is not so long (probably then short) and there would be several other sub-pages for expansion from the original thoughts under sub-titles:
Further on Petrarch
Works by Petrarch I find interesting
Unusual things about Petrarch
--Doug 14:44, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
Thanks! That answered my question on this. I will now be breaking this down into "sub-titles" so that the main Talk page is not so long. Also is there a reason (probably some technical reason) why the Reference Titles on the questions can not be run in reverse chronological order, so that the last question submitted is the first you see and the oldest question (by then not worked on) is at the end about to fall off (to be archived).
Thank you very much.
And, when I am complete, could you provide me with a link to review you as an editor? Ronbo76 16:43, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
