Maram Susli (Arabic: مرام سوسلي), also known as Mimi al-Laham, PartisanGirl, Syrian Girl and Syrian Sister, is a Syrian Australian YouTube content creator, anti-semitic conspiracy theorist, 9/11 Truther, and political commentator who prepares videos on the Syrian Civil War, United States foreign policy in the Middle East, conspiracy theories, and the Gamergate controversy.
Susli has been repeatedly featured as a guest on various far-right and neo-nazi podcasts and media networks. She is a contributor to the conspiracy-theory website InfoWars, has appeared on the Mother of All Talk Shows hosted by British socialist George Galloway, on Breaking the Set with Abby Martin, on a podcast run by Holocaust denier Ryan Dawson, on podcasts hosted by the former Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, David Duke, and has been interviewed by neo-Nazi Richard Spencer for the YouTube channel of his National Policy Institute, a white supremacist group.
Susli's work and worldview is grounded in a series of conspiracy theories. She has repeatedly said that 9/11 was an inside job. She is an advocate of the New World Order conspiracy theory, and believes that a secret cabal of Freemasons and Illuminati are collaborating with the U.S. government to manipulate world events. Susli has also claimed that videos of ISIS beheading prisoners are fakes, and denies all allegations of atrocities and war crimes against the Syrian government and Bashar al-Assad.
Susli is also active on social media, and has appeared on more traditional media programs. She uses the handle "@partisangirl" on Twitter, has appeared on the Australian morning talk show Studio 10, the Russian RT television network, the French television network France 24, as well as the Iranian Press TV, and the Pakistani television network Indus News.
Early life and activities
Susli was born in Damascus; her family moved to Australia when she was a child.
According to The Daily Beast, Susli has a positive opinion of Hezbollah. She is a contributor to the far-right website InfoWars, and has participated in online broadcasts hosted by its founder, Alex Jones. She has appeared on podcasts hosted by David Duke, the former Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, to discuss Zionism, as well as those of the Holocaust denier Ryan Dawson. She has been interviewed by Richard Spencer for the YouTube channel of his National Policy Institute, a white supremacist group. Susli has cast doubt on the number of Jews killed during the Holocaust, saying: "Jews were ethnically cleansed from Germany… specifics and numbers and events...I’m going to leave that to the historians. And I think you’d find that there's historians on both sides."
In Susli's opinion, the New World Order opposes the Syrian government. She has said that the Freemasons and the Illuminati collaborate with the governments of the United States and Israel, as well as NATO, in international events; that Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) are a single front organisation of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA); that 9/11 was an inside job; that ebola is possibly part of the United States biological weapons program; and that the United States Department of Defense secretly manipulated the Gamergate controversy.
War in Syria
Susli has published a series of video and social media commentaries on her YouTube account. One YouTube video, If Syria Disarms Chemical Weapons We Lose the War, was viewed 44,720 times by October 2014. In an RT interview with Abby Martin in 2013 (as Mimi al Laham), Susli said that it would be a "grave mistake" for Assad to renounce chemical weapons.
Susli began writing and speaking on the Syrian Civil War in 2012. She described herself as a "Patriot Syrian Nationalist, who rejects any breach of Syrian sovereignty", in a Vice interview. She rejected the view Assad is a tyrant, rather he is protecting the Syrian people, In the interview she said the Syrian rebels had negligible democratic credentials and, in reality, were from the "regressive Muslim Brotherhood". She said that Syria was under threat from outside forces and "the thing to do was stand by the army and government and call for peaceful democratic reform". Susli has said the Houla massacre in 2012 was the work of the British intelligence agencies. In an interview with Alex Jones on InfoWars, which followed the Ghouta chemical attack of August 2013, she implied the rebels were responsible for the massacre.
Along with Theodore Postol, Susli rejected the claims that the Syrian government has used chemical weapons. In a YouTube video, she referred to evidence posted by Postol, suggesting that the 2017 Khan Shaykhun chemical attack, alleged to have killed 74 people, was not the work of the Assad government. While interviewing Seymour Hersh for Prospect magazine, Steve Bloomfield said that Postol "spoke about how he relies for his work on Syria on ... Susli". Hersh replied that "He talked to her once on one thing".
After the Skripal poisonings in Salisbury, England in March 2018, Susli's Twitter account posted 2,300 times over a 12-day period, accessed by 61 million users. Analysts from the UK government briefed selected journalists that they had concluded Susli's twitter account was "suspicious and part of a broader disinformation campaign". The Guardian newspaper then described her account as being a "Russian bot", but subsequently changed its article by substituting "account" for "bot". Susli, in response, said: "I am not a robot; I am a human being." A fact check by Channel 4 concluded that Susli is a "real individual", that Twitter has issued her account with a verification tick confirming the account is authentic and that the claim that her account is a bot "controlled directly by the Kremlin, appears to be false".
In an interview with The Daily Beast in 2017, Susli said that she does not support President Bashar al-Assad or associates of the Syrian Ba'athist party. She said this, according to the website "espite her trolling over Assad’s enemies, despite her appearances on Assad-friendly media outlets, and despite her connections to pro-Assad hackers." In one video she said Syria had been targeted because it does not allow genetically modified crops and lacks what she called "a Rothschild central bank", a reference to a Rothschild family conspiracy theory.
