Deletion Sorting Project |
---|
|
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Malls. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Shopping malls|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Malls. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Misplaced Pages:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Misplaced Pages's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

non notable mall. little to no information, and only one source: the malls home page, which is used to cite research, which seems to be a WP:RS problem. ⇒ SWATJester 19:17, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

- Delete Regional mall with 450,00 sq ft of GLA, lacks multiple reliable sources with nontrivial coverage. Edison 20:28, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
- Delete - about half the size of the proposed super-mall standard and nothing notable about it. TerriersFan 23:06, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

non notable mall, with little to no information actually in the article. ⇒ SWATJester 19:16, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
- keep notable mall. . Article includes basic information, goes beyond being a directory entry. Sufficient sources certainly seem to exist here. --W.marsh 19:29, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
- Delete - nothing to distinguish this from many other undistinguished malls and no definite secondary sources in the article to establish notability. TerriersFan 23:10, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
- Most malls offer curling? --W.marsh 23:57, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
- Fair point - however, none of the sources indicate that the ice rink is integrated with the mall or confirms its importance. Notability is more than existence being shown; it needs secondary sources to confirm its significance. If the necessary sources can be produced then I will change my view. TerriersFan 19:15, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- Well there is a secondary source, but unfortunately it requires a subscription/fee to view the entire article. Still, I think it does confirm what I added. --W.marsh 23:00, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

- Keep per W.Marsh. This is more than a directory listing. --Oakshade 23:57, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- Delete- there is nothing here to suggest that the mall is notable. Thunderwing 18:49, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
- Weak keep - there are many articles about local malls in the "Golden Horseshoe" (so says the template at the bottom). Virtual Cowboy 11:46, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion so that consensus may be reached
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, Mailer Diablo 12:41, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
- Weak keep The ice rink seems to make it unique in terms of shopping malls, but I would like to see a non-local secondary source.--Xnuala (talk) 00:48, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- Comment Not a unique feature. Eastdale mall in Montgomery, AL has had an ice rink for many years. It doesn't have an article here. Dimitrii 21:49, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- Weak keep. There seems to be enough to indicate that it is a significant local feature and the size of the recent investment in improvements also helps tip the scales for me, but it is still a very borderline keep. -- DS1953 00:27, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- Keep current version, ample evidence suggests that this is notable enough for an electronic encyclopedia, meets WP:A policy as well. Burntsauce 17:25, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- Comment User Sasquatch4510 and potential sockpuppets 216.59.253.82 and 216.59.253.214 keep removing the AFD header from the article. I am trying to assume good faith and presume that they are confused as to the difference between AFD and PROD, but wouldn't mind some help keeping an eye on the page for more reversions.--Xnuala (talk) 21:55, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- Keep but add more sources, per WP:ORG, to establish that it's worth keeping. - Tiswas 17:04, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- KEEP The article is very similar to all other shopping centre articles. Why should it be deleted and other sloppier articles stay?
- Comment - comparison to the of quality other articles is not a basis for inclusion or deletion - it only serves to highlight the quality or lack thereof of the other article. - Tiswas 17:21, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Fairview Mall (St. Catharines)
- Fairview Mall (St. Catharines) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD)
non notable mall, just like the others above. No sources, no link to official website, no assertion of notability. ⇒ SWATJester 19:21, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
- Weak delete Per the article, not the largest mall in its area. No statement of GLA. Fails WP:ATT by not having multiple independent sources with substantial coverage. Edison 20:40, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
- Delete - no notable features and lacks the necessary secondary sources. TerriersFan 23:04, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Fairview Park Mall
non notable mall, no assertion of notability. More mall cruft, no sources other than official site. ⇒ SWATJester 19:18, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
- Keep notable mall --W.marsh 19:32, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
- Weak delete. Malls at or larger than 800,000 square feet are considered "super-regional malls" per the ISCA. This one falls just under at 746,000, and lacks multiple reliable independent sources with substantial coverage of the mall or other claims to notability other than being the biggest in town. Better sourcing from regil=onal or national papers could possible tip the balance toward notability. Edison 20:52, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
- Delete - nothing notable about this mall and none of the secondary sources identifed are sufficiently significant. TerriersFan 23:01, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
- Keep. This is the largest mall in Waterloo Region so it is definetly a notable mall. --JayzRaptorz 00:58, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- Keep, notable as the largest mall in the Waterloo region, that it falls short of the super regional definition by just a few feet is rather inconsequential. Yamaguchi先生 01:25, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- Keep largest mall for miles, largest mall for a region, media coverage due to its size... thats notability. ALKIVAR™ ☢ 02:56, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- Keep, large mall and important part of the local community. There seems to be a decent amount of media coverage also. bbx 11:05, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Queen's Quay Terminal
non notable mallcruft. Makes no assertion of notability. Not inherently notable by itself, unlike some of the other more famous malls in toronto ⇒ SWATJester 19:11, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
- Added claim of importance, keep per that and . --W.marsh 19:47, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
- Keep. It is an upscale office building with a shopping area rather than a pure mall, and it is an important part of the revitalization of Toronto's Harbourfront area. --Eastmain 19:54, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
- Note: This debate has been included in the list of Malls-related deletions. -- Eastmain 19:57, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

- Delete Per the mall apparently has only 503,000 sq ft of GLA, making it less than a super-regional mall. Absent multiple reliable indendent references with non-trivial coverage, it does not appear to merit an article. Edison 20:18, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
- Keep per W Marsh's finding and article asserts "notablity" now. Important Toronto Harbor revitalization project.--Oakshade 04:06, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- Keep does seem to assert notability and provide multiple sources. Granted, the sources are organised and included shit-assed backwards, but that just means the article needs a cleanup and copyedit. WilyD 21:20, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
