Thank you for the quick response to the IP address (76.200.101.62) I reported for possible abuse/vandalism. I'm sorry I put the information on the wrong ADMIN page. Next time, I promise I'll read ALL the directions more closely before hitting the save page button.

Thanks
Hey, just wanted to say a big thank you for your advice, I certainly agree with it. It was wrong of me to jump in with that only warning, especially after I'd just brought it up on WP:AN, I guess I just wanted to try and put an end to it before he got any more heated - but on reflection, it could have turned out to be a bad move. The reason why I blanked the page, and didn't jump in with Mfd, or speedy deletion is there were previous versions that the page could have been moved back to - but then I guess that could have been seen as vandalism by User:PeterMarkSmith, hence the retaliation. Sorry if I gave you some work to do - I'll cetainly bare it in mind in the future, thanks again Ryanpostlethwaite contribs/talk 09:13, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

From what I saw before this was deleted, it wasn't speedyable under a7, since it contained an assertion of notability (being a head coach of a sport for a major Division I school). As such, could you please restore it? -Hit bull, win steak 15:13, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for restoring it. I'll see whether I can clean it up a bit. -Hit bull, win steak 15:16, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
The Government pages by Stripslashes 15:15, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
I am very concerned with the lack of explanation and severe overuse of power. I was adding pages for The Government, a relevant band from Connecticut (see: http://thegov.net/, http://myspace.com/thegovmusic, and http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4638104075215193069), and its members. No one has provided me with information as to why this is inappropriate. Stripslashes 15:15, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Per Misplaced Pages's own guidelines on musician notability, "Failing to satisfy the notability guidelines is not a criterion for speedy deletion". —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Stripslashes (talk • contribs) 15:21, 15 March 2007 (UTC).Stripslashes 15:21, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
I am more than happy to add more content, including additional sources and content, but I would need you to refrain from deleting the page minutes after its initial creation. Stripslashes 15:23, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
User:Stripslashes
I blocked this user for repeatedly moving the page The Government and creating a new dab page to include his nonnotable band. In my opinion, he was warned enough times, and the page moves are a real pain in the butt to undo. NawlinWiki 15:33, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Blocking
By blocking the ip 72.10.124.230 you are blocking Westbrook Public Schools from any edits on Misplaced Pages. Additionally, I have not move pages since I recieved my final warning. I am an educator myself, and I am the IT Manager at Westbrook High School (see: ], Rob Frawley).
Also, by blocking my IP you remove the right for my to disscuss this matter with mods and admins.
I request you remove such restrictions on my username stripslashes and the Westbrook Public School ip of 72.10.124.230. Ss2 15:52, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
(I am StripSlashes)
- It is indeed unfortunate that your actions have led to editing access to such a valuable educational resource being temporarily cut off from the students at your school. However, no one has a basic right to edit Misplaced Pages. We are granted permission to edit only after agreeing to abide by Misplaced Pages's community-developed policies; this is something you have consistently failed to do. —Psychonaut 16:04, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Citing the three "An editor must not perform more than three reverts, in whole or in part, on a single page within a 24-hour period. A revert means undoing the actions of another editor, whether involving the same or different material each time." I assume this applies to all Misplaced Pages members (including mods).
Additionally... The blocking policy states that "Blocks are used to prevent damage or disruption to Misplaced Pages and should not be used as a punitive measure."
Since I stopped moving pages after my final warning, it would seem that there was no reason to block me in the first place.
Additionally... The blocking policy states that "Blocking to gain an advantage in a content dispute is strictly prohibited. Sysops must not block editors with whom they are currently engaged in a content dispute."
Again, if the pages could simply be left (i did use the {hangon} tags and it was still deleted) so users can comment on their validity it would be very much appreciated.
Lastely... When I first began adding pages for The Government, I was told Misplaced Pages REQUIRED pages be moves, and then later on there was a complain about it (see my discussion page).
I need some clarification on why so many people involved with Misplaced Pages could have such little understanding about the rules and regulation, ultimately providing me with conflicting information.
Even if the band is not well known by you, it does not mean that it is unknown in Connecticut.
I would appreciate a useful discuss of the validity and usefulness of the information provided on the page.Ss2 16:20, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
StripSlashes
The username and ip associated with StripSlashes has also been blocked indefinetly. The blocking rules state that, when blocking, calateral damage must be avoided. Instead of considering this, the whole school system of Westbrook, Connecticut has been blocked.
Additionally, the points above clearly show that the user acted wrongly.
Misplaced Pages should be a fair and balanced view on current and path history. I understand that some might disagree with the page, but it did not qualify for speedy deletion. Additionally, it was still being edited and improved.
Entering into a discussion about the page is one thing, but flat out deleting it is another.
I would like to add that I will be filing a complain over the topic and user NawlinWiki (that is, once I figure out the right procedue to do so).
I would appreciate my username and the Westbrook Public Schools ip unblocked so I do not have to use the webserver ip and the alias ss2 to communicate about this matter.
(Additionally, the user ss2 can be remove once the block on stripslashes is remove).
Thanks.
As I posted to the talk page of User:Ss2, I will unblock the Stripslashes account if Ss2 promises to stop moving pages and not to repost The Government (CT) article. I've had no response. NawlinWiki 16:45, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
StripSlashes:Blocked
According the StripSlashes discussion page, I was blocked for vandalism. The Misplaced Pages definition of vandalism clearly states that "any good-faith effort to improve the encyclopedia, even if misguided or ill-considered, is not vandalism." —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ss2 (talk • contribs) 16:45, 15 March 2007 (UTC).
My offer to unblock, as above, stands. Or are you (Ss2, not Merope) saying that if unblocked, you will continue to move pages and repost the Government (CT) article? NawlinWiki 16:50, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
To Merope: I think there was an autoblock. (Apparently Ss2 figured out a way around it.). NawlinWiki 16:55, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Merope: Ss2/Stripslashes promised to behave, so I've unblocked User:Stripslashes. Thanks for your help. :) NawlinWiki 16:58, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
