Foolproof: Why We Fall for Misinformation and How to Build Immunity

I may be blinkered, but this looks an awful lot like a continuation of a long-running effort of the author to promote themselves here: Misplaced Pages:Sockpuppet_investigations/Maasuni/Archive. The uploading of the high resolution cover is especially suspicious - I can't see that anywhere else online and it's way larger than what they stated the source to be at File:Foolproof_cover.jpg. Impossible to link them to that through anything but behaviour, but I thought I should at least alert you to it and you can decide whether you'd have moved the article had you been aware. SmartSE (talk) 10:15, 15 July 2023 (UTC)

SmartSE, thanks. I wasn't aware of the SPI, and the editor had denied a COI which, whatever my misgivings, I had no evidence to doubt. The image, suspicious as it is, was added after my move. I'd deleted this as a draft, and restored to a sandbox on request. The author largely followed our editing guidance, and eventually requested a move out of his sandbox. Where do we go from here? I seem to have fallen for misinformation... Jimfbleak - talk to me? 10:51, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
Thanks and yes it's quite ironic isn't it? I'm filing a post at COIN as we speak as there are other older accounts. Unfortunately over the years they've learned to become better at editing in general and also at avoiding being caught by checkuser. SmartSE (talk) 10:54, 15 July 2023 (UTC)

Advice

Would this count as a G10 under CSD? While it does talk about "unbelievers" being dragged to hell, it doesnt seem like it can be said to be its only purpose. I tagged it as G3, but wanted to know if there would be a more accurate criteria here. Captain Jack Sparrow (talk) 15:30, 15 July 2023 (UTC)

Captain Jack Sparrow Already deleted by the time I saw this, but FWIW, G3 looks as good as any, bound to go whatever the tag

Catherine Denkmann Wentworth

Hello Jim - There is a biography of Frederick Denkmann on Misplaced Pages. Catherine Denkmann Wentworth was the artistic daughter of this influential family.

I am one of the students of Avaneeswaram S R Vinu.A lot of resources about him are already available in the internet. But I think a wiki page of a renowned artist like him should be available to the public. If the previous page is restored, I’ll edit it with the needful sources and citations. If not could you guide me about what to do regarding the situation. Sanker1010 (talk) 12:02, 18 July 2023 (UTC)

Restore the Page

Hi Jim, Avaneeswaram S R Vinu is a world renowned Indian violinist.I am surprised to see that his profile is deleted. His profile should be there in Misplaced Pages. Kindly revisit and restore the page https://en.m.wikipedia.org/Avaneeswaram_S_R_Vin Sanker1010 (talk) 02:50, 18 July 2023 (UTC)

Deletion of 'Maverick Messiah' page

Hi, You have deleted this page, stating it is promotion. Surprised that it is considered a promotion on Misplaced Pages to write about a biographical book of a well-known personality which is published by a reputed publisher like Penguin Random House? The article itself has a neutral tone. Will that not make writing about any personality or book a promotional article? Salivahana (talk) 17:42, 18 July 2023 (UTC)

Question about self published sources tag 'Mohamed Elshahat'

Hi, I am a little confused about this tag. I reviewed the policy for good references and tried my best to narrow down the references use to these: 1-Books published by respected publishing houses. I cited a literaty criticism book published by the Arabic Journalism Agency which can be found on google book. Also, books written by Mr. Elshahat were published by 1- Egyptian General Authority for Books, 2-Egyptian Ministry of Culture 3-Dar El Horreya 4-Dar Al-Adeeb 5-Dar El-Adham 6- Dar Waad 7- Al-Arabi Publishing and Distribution which are independant and reputible publishing houses/intities. I added references to the book pages on the Arabworldbooks.com website so users can find the book cover/details if needed since these are written in a different language. 2- Mainstream (non-fringe) magazines, including specialty ones and Reputable newspapers. I cited independant articles from Almasry Alyoum, Alnahar, Aldostor and Alkalima. These are all independant articles written by reputible jourlists or critics. I would love to improve the quality of this article so your help is much appreciated Nour -Let's talk NourhanAbdelfattah (talk) 16:31, 21 July 2023 (UTC)
