Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.
    Shortcuts

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

    Silkroad forums (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Full-protect. High level of IP vandalism. I am a Moderator of the fansite, and am currently working on an official post for it, however with all this users posting and editing deleting changing and everything. Its imposible, the edits have gone from 2 - ~500 under an hour. K3y-J 06:29, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Note: Article does not exist. ^demon 06:55, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Sorry about that, it should work now.

Corrected name. Note that its a speedy candidate and is under heavy vandal attack from forum members. Extremely high edit count - Alison 06:58, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Yes, i completely understand this. This is why, as one of the Moderators for SRF, i would like it protected. Or would it be better that it is deleted and i create a new one when i have completed the Official post? K3y-J 07:07, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

As one of the mods of the forum, there's a certain conflict of interests. Misplaced Pages is not a directory of links and I also suspect the forum is non-notable. Right now, the article will probably be speedy-deleted as same. As this is Misplaced Pages and anyone can edit, the concept of there being an "official post" doesn't really apply - Alison 07:09, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
Fully protected - solely to prevent disruption. A very clear message has been left for the speedy review admin to indicate that prot does not endorse either keeping nor deleting article - Alison 07:19, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
Note: - now deleted by another admin as non-notable - Alison 07:26, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Understood, will be contacting appropriate Admin when done. Thankyou for your help. K3y-J 07:37, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Semi-protect. I have just had to revert the same vandal twice in less then to minutes. I don't want to violate WP:3RR, but don't want the article to keep being vandalized. Kaiser matias 05:30, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

    Kurt Vonnegut (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi=protect. This is kind of a pre-emptive RFPP, as Vonnegut passed away tonight (:-(), and there has been vandalism already. I would anticipate much more to come. Kntrabssi 04:30, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Declined I see quite a few good edits from anon editors there, as well as some vandal reverts. There's high traffic, but that's not a valid reason to block anons and, as news comes in, they'll want to contribute, too. - Alison 05:42, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Sports forum msn convos (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

    Hugo Chávez (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection Persistent vandalism. nearly all edits are anon vandalism & subsequent reverts. Ripe 03:32, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Two or three vandal edits since yesterday, and even an anonymous helped revert vandalism. -- ReyBrujo 03:59, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Jonathan Taylor Thomas (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection. There were several edits today from various IPs stating (incorrectly) not only that he died, but also adding bizarre scenarios about how he died (as well as NPOV violations). Anthony Rupert 02:59, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Note: Right now, I see one revert per day, which is not enough. And some anonymous are also helping revert the vandals, so it is (in all) a controlled situation. I would not protect it, however let's wait for a second's opinion. -- ReyBrujo 04:02, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

    Curtis S.S.K. (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protect, also requesting move protection. This article has been the subject of numerous instances of IP vandalism. Additionally, until recently, the album's name was questioned. There are now multiple sources stating that the name is Curtis S.S.K. Because of the number of times the page has been moved (to incorrect titles), I'm requesting move protection. Semi-protecting the article would stop the IP vandalism (which comprises the majority) as well as prevent re-occurring unconfirmed, and purely speculative track listings.--NPswimdude500 02:24, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

As a frequent editor, I recognize the constant vandalism and I am in support of protection. --- Efil4tselaer 02:33, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
Note: I see some useful anonymous edits, reverting vandalism and stuff. Since nobody uses edit summaries, I cannot tell in a fast way which edits are good faithed, which reverts, and which vandalism. As for moving, I see only one move. -- ReyBrujo 04:06, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

    Current requests for unprotection

    Shortcuts

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Misplaced Pages:Attribution/Poll/header (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

    Todd Goldman (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Request to unprotect Todd Goldman: Reason being that there is faulty information on the page. He stole most of the art he then used on the shirts he is selling. To grant him protection is somewhat supporting that art thievery. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.222.200.227 (talkcontribs)

    Note: - sounds libellous - Alison 01:52, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
Declined Article will stay in this way. Please use the talk page and check this report in the future. Since the accusations appear to come from a very popular board (Something Awful), it is better to keep it semiprotected (if not fully protected) until discussion ensues. -- ReyBrujo 02:07, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

    Template:Rfa-notice (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Unprotect. Virtually unused – used only on one one discussion archive – and broken anyway. (I'm pretty sure the image isn't meant to be that big). Protected since 2005, never heavily used or vandalised – Gurch 20:42, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

    Unprotected -- zzuuzz 02:04, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

    ProtectionBot subpages

Unprotect. User:ProtectionBot/Uploaded (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) and User:ProtectionBot/Protected (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) were both created and fully protected some time ago, but ProtectionBot was never used (and is now obsolete thanks to cascading protection). I have no objection to the pages staying where they are, as they're in userspace, but we shouldn't have two pages protected without reason, and they also shouldn't be in Category:Protection templates (I can remove them myself once the page is unprotected) – Gurch 19:54, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

    Unprotected - Alison 05:35, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Current requests for significant edits to a protected page

    Shortcut

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

    MediaWiki:Recentchangestext (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Could we get a link on the page to Special:Recentchangeslinked/Category:Living people (piped of course to a descriptive name) to better patrol edits of BLP articles? This would help reduce the possibility of "Sinbad-is-dead type" incidents. In the "utilities" section, or more preferably, a prominent place near the bottom, below "Challenges." Mr.Z-mantalk¢ 22:42, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

Nice idea... but where on the page? I suggest you get the source for that page, edit it to what you want, stick it on a page somwhere (usersubpage) then I'll save it for you. --Deskana (ya rly) 22:51, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
I was thinking something like User:Mr.Z-man/Recentchanges (note, that does not include the interwiki links). I would put it into the "Utilities" row, but that would make it too long. Mr.Z-mantalk¢ 23:08, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

    Anchor (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

This article recently fully protected following edit war and vandalism (content deletion under pretense of spam) from Russeasby (now 24-hr blocked for 3RR violation). The deleted content in question is sourced and perfectly NPOV. Third party opinions in Talk:Anchor are against this deletion, e.g. that from Hoof Hearted, and advice from one other solicited third party (Shell Kinney) warned cessation of these edits. Protection fell upon final revert by Russeasby before revision could take place. Suggest this be rolled back. Badmonkey 15:31, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Declined The consensus is hard to see on that page, all I see is arguments. In addition, if a consensus is reached, asking for unprotection is better. This section is for non-controversial edits to protected pages; unprotection may be more appropriate. --Deskana (ya rly) 21:26, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

    David Oistrakh (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

    semi-protect.

An unknown user under several different IP addresses is consistently adding a vandalistic paragraph on both the David Oistrakh and Jascha Heifetz articles. The Paragraphs are named either “Oistrakh’s Political Controversy” and “Russian Defector” in the mentioned articles above. The information in this paragraph is at best speculatory and is weakly backed up by a rather obscure article that can be found here:

    http://www.josephcurtinstudios.com/news/strad/jan90/friedman4.htm.

The charges made in both the paragraph and website have not been found or proven by other scholarly texts found else where in the web and serious academic institutions. In addition, the paragraph should be considered plagiarism of the above URL. Despite several attempts at contacting this unknown user does the following things.

1.)The person consistently re-instates a vandalistic paragraph after repeated attempts to omit and revise it by other Misplaced Pages editors and users.

2.)The person repeadedtly ignores attempts at disccusion asked from other editors.

3.)The person removes the comments of other users from the talk pages that concern the person’s contribution.

One of the IP addresses that the unknown person used was: 67.101.196.59. For the reasons above, I ask on behalf of other users on Misplaced Pages who have attempted to contact this person, that the articles of Jascha Heifetz and David Oistrakh be granted semi-protection. Unprotect. I have no idea why this article is being protected, but it's left the article looking horrid and tattered--and protected. The history shows *gasp* a whopping three redirect vandalisms in the past three days, which apparently justified a unilateral protection of this page. without so much as a notice on top. Good heavens, people, is it that hard to revert a simple blankpage edit? Matt Yeager (Talk?) 21:08, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

List of light gun games (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

I looked over the most recent edits and they all can be backed up by such websites as the Killer List of Video Games and the Time Crisis 4 information is even found on EBGames' official website. So, I don't see where the vandalism was on this page. If it's because of some specific user or something, the edits on this page at least appear to be highly verifiable and relevant and so this page really shouldn't be affected. So, I'm just confused. --172.132.56.140 19:52, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
