Coast Guard BASE Elizabeth City is a major shore installation of United States Coast Guard located in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. The Base hosts 5 major Coast Guard commands on its 822 acre footprint and supports a Joint use airfield agreement with the Elizabeth City Regional Airport.

History

The Coast Guard presence in Elizabeth City began with the commissioning of Air Station Elizabeth City in August 1940. During World War II the footprint experienced significant growth to support Navy and Army needs during the war. Following the end of the World War II, facilities constructed for the war effort were repurposed to establish an aircraft repair and supply center on the footprint. This unit, currently the Aviation Logistics Center, was commissioned in 1947. In 1949 the aircraft repair and supply center commenced some aviation enlisted force training. In 1978 the Aviation Technical Training Center was commissioned to consolidate and oversee all aviation enlisted personnel training.
