Jesse Louis Jackson (born October 8, 1941) is an American politician, civil rights activist, and Baptist minister with no divinity degree. He was a candidate for the Democrat presidential nomination in 1984 and 1988, and is a prominent leader of the American Christian left. He is the father of Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. Jackson is a race-baiting bigot who routinely attempts to coerce and bully white people. His inability to pronounce common words has made him a frequent target of humor parodies. Further, he belied his "reverend" status when he fathered a bastard child out of wedlock, while cheating on his wife.
Early life
Jackson was born Jesse Louis Burns in Greenville, South Carolina to Helen Burns. Jackson was born when his mother was 16 years old, and as his biological father, Noah Louis Robinson, was married to another woman, he was uninvolved in Jackson's life. Jackson took on the surname of his step-father, Charles Henry Jackson.
