Pit bulls have an emotional temperament and are noted for their attachment to their masters as well as for their courage. Although they are short they are capable of jumping as high a man's throat. Their reflexes are much faster than a humans.
Pit bulls sometimes sometimes unexpectedly attack small children neighbors, or their owners and can cause fatal injuries. One hypothesis is that many pit bulls have poor eyesight and have difficulty recognizing the nature of a perceived threat.
Pit bulls make very good pets, but great care must be taken should one choose to care for one. Particularly one should have insight into one's own character, and not use the dog for the projection of one's internal conflicts. Additonally, many jurisdictions have outlawed possession of a pit bull.
