Disambiguation link notification for September 21
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Alexandru Piru, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page National Salvation Front. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Szatmárnémeti Nemzetközi Repülőtér / Satu Mare airport
Szatmárnémeti Nemzetközi Repülőtér is the native name of this airport in Hungarian in addition to the Romanian name. Szatmárnémeti has a mixed Hungarian-Romanian speaking population, and Hungarian is the second most widely spoken language in the region. User:Biruitorul has been constantly removing Hungarian names, this is unacceptable, and can be deemed as anti-Hungarian sentiment, and xenophobic. According to Romanian law, regions and towns where the native local population is above 20% bilingual signage can be used and Hungarian can be also used in official communication. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.9.168.186 (talk) 12:02, 25 September 2016 (UTC)
Disgusting how this user biruitorul is constantly deleting Hungarian language entries.
This user is also a supporter of Romanian Fascism and is an anti-Hungarian provocateur
This user is also a supporter of Romanian Fascism and is an anti-Hungarian provocateur that does not support autonomy or independence of Transylvania Transylvania and does not support the rights of Hungarians in Transylvania to self-determination. This user is a hypocritical Romanian Chauvinist that persistently vandalises pages where Hungarian names should and can be used. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.9.168.186 (talk) 12:24, 25 September 2016 (UTC)
Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge
Hi, can I interest you in this or a 1000 Challenge for Romania/Moldova?♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:42, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
Europe 10,000 Challenge invite
Hi. The Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Misplaced Pages:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Misplaced Pages:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoLo dicono a Signa. 02:33, 6 November 2016 (UTC)

Socialist Republic of Romania and Polish People's Republic
Thank you for properly restoring the sourced information at the Socialist Republic of Romania article. Unfortunately, the same user has repeatedly removed "state atheism" from the article about Polish People's Republic. Since you are Eastern European, I would appreciate if you could help add a native source that supports the category. My reference, despite it being in English, was removed by User:Xenophrenic. March Madness 2017
G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:
- tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
- updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
- creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.
As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.
The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.
The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.
For the Milhist co-ordinators. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) & MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 07:24, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
capitalizing Historical
Hello Biruitorul, thank you for your contributions. In contemporary academic practice in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, we use "Historical" to refer to the post-European colonization period, recognising that the indigenous peoples had history, and that the "Historical" period refers specifically to not only post-European colonization, but when their (European peoples) record-keeping dominated the historical discourse. So I, as with my academic colleagues prefer the nomenclature of "Historical" rather than a generic "historical". Hope this clarifies the matter for you. regards Brunswicknic (talk) 15:40, 1 March 2017 (UTC)
DYK for Wallachian princely election, 1842
On 5 March 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Wallachian princely election, 1842, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the aged, hernia-afflicted Alecu Filipescu-Vulpea reportedly ran in the Wallachian princely election only to hamper other candidates? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Wallachian princely election, 1842. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Wallachian princely election, 1842), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. It's a long time ago and a long shot but...
I came across Ioan Sterca-Șuluțiu today, which you created in 2006. My gut instinct was to just send it to AfD and let things run their course, but noticed that in a 2009 AfD you said you were confident you could find sources. I've spent over an hour googling and digging through my local library (also a long shot, admittedly) and I've not turned up anything. The only source I can really find is this, but I wouldn't like to bet that that isn't based on the enwiki article. There are a couple of obscure academic papers that Google scholar suggests might mention him, but as they're not easily available online and none of them are in English, I'm struggling a bit. His brother, archbishop Alexandru, is mentioned fairly liberally, but as far as I can see none of those sources mention Ioan.
Could you give us a hint where we might find sources to at least substantiate - if not flesh out - this article? GoldenRing (talk) 10:33, 4 April 2017 (UTC)

Hi, Biruitorul. Just to let you know: I have restored the article Moldova Veche. Although you created the original page as a redirect, the substance of the article was constructed by another editor (as a translation from German Misplaced Pages) Therefore, it did not qualify for WP:G7 speedy deletion. At this point, any merging of the article's text will require a merge discussion and a consensus opinion before proceeding. Cheers. — CactusWriter 19:03, 21 May 2017 (UTC)
Ukrainian Dobruja
Again, why are you denying a historical fact? The Danube is the border between Dobruja and Bessarabia. Every island on the Romanian side of the Danube (Chilia arm) is part of Dobruja, and Ukraine has such islands, meaning that Ukraine has gotten a small part of Dobruja. It doesn't matter how small the area is, it is still part of Ukraine. And there's nothing wrong if the source is Romanian. Google can be used to translate. I've seen numerous people adding sources in other languages, no one was against it. TheBlueMapper (talk) 06:49, 3 June 2017 (UTC)

When you write an edit summary, can you please document the change that you made? Artur Văitoianu
Hi. There is some contradictory information regarding Văitoianu:
- The Romanian wiki page states that he's interred at the Mărăști Mausoleum, while the English article he's laid to rest at Mărășești. More confusing still, I saw a picture taken by you with Văitoianu's grave at Bellu. While I'm inclined to believe that the General was rather interred at Mărăști along Marshal Averescu, why is his grave at Bellu? Was he laid to rest initially there and then moved to Mărăști, or is he still buried at Bellu?
- The Romanian wiki page states that he was imprisoned for 7 years at Sighet, however I could not find a single source for this.
Regards, Mentatus (talk) 12:59, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for the quick reply and the infos. If the story about Văitoianu's remains proved true, it would be another sad affair about how Romanians treat the memory of their heroes. Mentatus (talk) 18:47, 28 August 2017 (UTC)

Mihai Gruia Redirection to Akcent
I noticed that you redirected the page Mihai Gruia to the Akcent giving the reason that it doesn't fulfill the notability criteria. You said it doesn't fulfill the point 6 of notability criteria. But you don't need to jump straight to point 6 because if any one of the points is fulfilled it doesn't fail the notability. The notability criteria say:
Musicians or ensembles (this category includes bands, singers, rappers, orchestras, DJs, musical theatre groups, instrumentalists, etc.) may be notable if they meet at least one of the following criteria. And for your information, it fulfills the point 1 of notability criteria. The point 1 says:
1- Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent of the musician or ensemble itself.
There are hundreds and even thousand of non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published regarding the Mihai Gruia. Also, you said virtually all coverage of him is in relation to Akcent, not all but apart. He has been part of Akcent for 13 years and there is nothing wrong in mentioning the Akcent. He doesn't fulfill the notability criteria due to Akcent but due to his work. Out of 11 sources and two external links, 7 are those sources which are totally irrelevant to Akcent. How could you say everything is covered in Akcent?
You should respect the works of others and don't be aggressive and misuse your authority.TMOR (talk) 14:44, 18 October 2017 (UTC)

Please attribute or claim media you uploaded or restored: File:Statue of Charles Sumner in the Boston Public Garden.jpg
You uploaded or restored , File:Statue of Charles Sumner in the Boston Public Garden.jpg, but for various reasons did not add an {{information}} block, or indicate your (user) name on the file description page. Media uploaded to Misplaced Pages needs information on the SPECIFIC authorship and source of files, to ensure that it complies with copyright laws in various jurisdictions.
If it's entirely your own work:
please include {{own}} in the relevant source field, amend the {{information}} added by a third party, ensuring that your user name (or name you want used for attribution) is clear in the author field, and change the license to an appropriate "self" variant (if such a license is not already used). You should also add an |author= parameter to the license tag, to assist reviews and image patrollers. You can also add |claimed=yes
and an |author=
to the {{media by uploader}} or {{presumed_self}} tag if it is present to indicate that you've acknowledged the image, and license shown (and updated the {{information}} where appropriate).
If it's not entirely your own work, or the media is based on the work of others:
Please update the source and authorship fields, so that they accurately reflect the source and authors of the original work(s), as well as the derivative you created. You should also not use a "self" license unless the work is entirely you own. Media that is incorrectly claimed as self or {{own}}, will eventually be listed at Files for Discussion or deleted, unless it's full status is entirely clear to other contributors, reviewers and image patrollers. You should also read Misplaced Pages:Requesting copyright permission which details how to confirm any permissions you obtained for works by others that are still in copyright.
Whilst this notification, relates to a single media upload, it would also be appreciated if you could ensure that appropriate attribution exists for other media you uploaded, You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

WikiProjects
Hi there! I just wanted to inform you that we have the somewhat older WikiProject Alexandra Stan (which was not quite a success) and the new WikiProject Inna out there. These are great opportunities to discuss on things related to the two singers, how to improve articles related to them and so on. I would really appreciate you joining one of these two projects, but of course you don't have to. I think you're a great editor in this direction, and your help would definitely be needed. To join one of the aforementioned projects, just list yourself in the "Participants" column and put both the page and its talk page on you watchlist to stay updated on the matter. Have a wonderful day!! Cartoon network freak (talk) 21:19, 5 November 2018 (UTC)

A proper and only logical argument motivation structure to contribute to wikipedia consists of a particular premise correlated with an universal premise such as a law, and a logical inference, in other words a syllogism, which is verifiable and true according to wikipedia regulations. Since user Biruitorul is clearly a wikipedia vandal, he must be banned

Cioca Aerodrome
Dear, thanks for your corrections and addition to the Timișoara article, regarding the Cioca airfield. I live far away and do not speak Romanian (not yet, at least :) ) so I am sure you have better sources than I have. Do you have any information, with a bit of authority, regarding the current status of the field? On openstreetmap.org, someone claims that the airfield has entirely disappeared, leaving only pasture. This is what made me begin to look into the matter. Kind regards! Jan olieslagers (talk) 12:32, 31 May 2019 (UTC)

Emanoil Bacalogu

Re-latinization of Romanian
Niciodată nu a avut loc în România vreo re-latinizare intenționată a limbii: ”a process during the development of the Romanian language aimed at the strengthening of its Romance character.” așa cum este în mod fals prezentat in introducere.

Anca Giurchescu
It's been a while since I came to you for help and I hope all is well with you. I'm working on an article on Anca Giurchescu and several things have me stumped. When she died, a post was made on facebook giving her birthdate as 17 December 1930. I can't find any other source that gives the date, but I'm thinking that is because I don't know her maiden name. I thought maybe this would help, but it gives neither of her parent's names, just her great grandfather's. It does however, state that she was the Romanian national shooting champion (with an 8 pound rifle, maybe that makes a difference). The article doesn't say when this was, but it does say she was the only woman on the team and sort of indicates it was when she was in university. A Hungarian source says she attended the University of Physical Education in Bucharest, beginning in 1949 and began working at the Institute of Ethnography and Folklore, Bucharest in 1953, which to me, gives a fairly narrow time range. Any idea how I might figure out what her maiden name was and if that is her correct date of birth? Any help you can give would be very much appreciated. SusunW (talk) 21:29, 10 March 2020 (UTC)
- I'm back. She really did win a silver medal in the team shooting and a bronze individual medal in 1955 at the European championships, (pp=502-503) but I cannot figure out what this excerpt is taken from or when it was written. Looks like the name of the book is Cartea de aur and the chapter is "Medaliaţii la campionatele mondiale şi campionatele europene. Alte performanţe la nivel mondial şi european ale sportivilor români," but when I go to the website for the Ministerul Tineretului si Sportului, I cannot find archived documents or what this might be a piece of. I hope I am not wearing you out with my questions and truly do appreciate the help. SusunW (talk) 23:43, 11 March 2020 (UTC)
- Really appreciate your help. I've taken it live here Anca Giurchescu. Will ask Ipigott if there might be Danish sources that have anything to add. If you could look over the spellings, etc. to make sure there are no huge errors, that would be greatly appreciated. I also wonder if there is a bot/script/assistant of some sort. Seems that various letters like "ț" and "ţ" or "ș" and "ş" end up being redirects on wiki, which tells me that the texts they are pasted from must use them interchangeably but they aren't actually interchangeable. If there isn't an automated way to correct them, which character is correct? Again, I really appreciate your help with this one. She was really interesting to write and I learned a lot. SusunW (talk) 23:09, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- SusunW: I'm afraid I couldn't find much about her in Denmark apart from this interesting study of the Vlachs - or maybe Kahl, Thede (21 October 2016). Von Hora, Doina und Lautaren: Einblicke in die rumänische Musik und Musikwissenschaft. Frank & Timme GmbH. pp. 155–. ISBN 978-3-7329-0310-8.. I thought the section on dance was particularly interesting and perhaps pertinent to our coverage of folklore. There are also some interesting details about her time in Denmark in Anca Giurchescu (1930-2015): Memories from her ICTM friends.--Ipigott (talk) 07:00, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you both for your copyedits and help. I've added your info on her publication Ipigott. Loved reading the remembrances of her colleagues and added it as an external link, as I think others might enjoy it as well. As it is uncurated, and I intend to nominate it for GA, I didn't include any of the info in the body. I'm betting her legacy will more fully emerge over time, but as its a fairly recent death, most everything now available is a memoir rather than an analysis. Don't want to take up any more space on Biruitorul's page here, but I wouldn't have been satisfied with the article without your help. That maiden name was key to unraveling her full story. :) SusunW (talk) 15:03, 13 March 2020 (UTC)

Mirsa redirect
Hi - back in 2011, you created a redirect from Mirsa to Avrig. I have just created an article for Olga di Grésy whose knitwear company, Mirsa, was pretty significant in Italian fashion history/American fashion and I just wanted to check whether "Mirsa" is a common alternative spelling of Mârșa, and if not, whether there was any reason why the redirect could not go to Olga di Grésy's page instead? If you feel that Mirsa should remain as a redirect to Avrig, that's absolutely fine - I just thought I would ask. All best, Mabalu (talk) 23:13, 4 April 2020 (UTC)

Romanian overseas territory
Hello, Biruitorul.
You've recently removed my edit on the Romania article about the Romanian overseas territory, saying it's a very obscure chapter that shouldn't be mentioned on a country page. I do understand that I had initially added the information in a much too detailed way, but don't you think it would be OK to add it as a one-sentence note, like I did the second time? It's a part of our country's history, so I think it should be added to the History section. This will also help spread awareness of it, since it's a very little known fact.
Could you please express your opinion on that here? - https://en.wikipedia.org/Talk:Romania#Overseas_territory

Atentionare
Vecinii nostri promoveaza peste tot originea romanilor. Motivul il stim cu totii vezi. They should be more concerned about their origins vezi.
They have made a habit of editing a lot of articles concerning our history. They twist things to suit their agenda. I have nothing against Hungarian people I have Hungarian friends but this just too much. I think most of the editors here are Jobbik members.
These articles here are made for the rest of the world to read and the Hungarian bias is very unfair in this matter. It's a huge problem and you should address this issue to wiki administrators because it's been going on for a while. They mislead and making us look like liars, thieves. Edits should be objective and neutral for both Hungarians and Romanians.
If this is how the articles about Romania look on the English Misplaced Pages due to the edits made by some Hungarians then I can only imagine what kind of lies about Romanians are on the Hungarian Misplaced Pages. I won't bother editing any of those articles such as the Hungarian-Romanian War because It's just too much effort. The articles here are written in Hungarian points of view. These people ignore Misplaced Pages policies and guidelines.— unsigned comment added on 21 May 2020.

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Privacy in Romania
A tag has been placed on Category:Privacy in Romania requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

Remember?
Afil
people of Romanian descent
The basic idea of categorisation is that categories should be defining. That means we dont always put people as "from" the place they were born, if they didnt do what made them notable there. People who emigrate are better defined as emigrants from their former country than as people of .... descent. Rathfelder (talk) 16:11, 22 October 2020 (UTC)

The treatment of Roma in Northern Transylvania under Hungarian control
Hi B. Hope life is treating you well. I wonder if you might be able to help me with something, I am at a bit of a loss for decent sources for the fate of those Romani living in Northern Transylvania while it was occupied by Hungary in WWII. Do you know of any sources that might be of use? The redoubtable Mr Achim has failed me for once. BTW, I can read Romanian (with a little effort!). Boynamedsue (talk) 18:09, 11 April 2021 (UTC)

Can we talk about Romania please?
I don't even need this for article work, I just genuinely wish to talk to an actual native of the place. I can only learn so much from books. So, if you have the time and can have a chat: how's Nicolae Ceaușescu perceived over there? How's his regime rated overall, mostly good or mostly bad for the country? How about Iliescu? Former Commie voted democratically 3 times. Transylvania1916 (talk) 21:31, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
Dracula
Hi there, Biruitorul. I removed all of the content that you added onto Dracula. The article is very much a WIP as I work towards FAC, but I want you to know that–although I removed it—I do intend to reimplement some of it once there's a better place for it. Thank you so much for writing that, though; it is useful information that currently doesn't have a home or an appropriate place for it. I'll be writing a section about the novel's political dimension, and it definitely can go there. But it doesn't belong in Publication because that's for texts Stoker was aware of or involved in (whereas the Romanian translation was essentially an adaptation). If you have any questions, please feel free to ping me back. — ImaginesTigers (talk∙contribs) 22:00, 16 July 2021 (UTC)

Was Romania - on paper - a Communist regime till December 1991?
Hello, I found this source here which lists the dates when the "leading role" of the Communist Party was dropped from various Eastern European constitutions. But when it comes to Romania, it states - and I quote - "In Romania the Communist Party was so totally discredited that it was not seen necessary to revoke its leading role.". This...Would mean that Romania was - on paper - still a Communist state until the new Constitution was adopted in December 1991. Can you clarify anything on this? I'd imagine you have access to the relevant sources, since you speak the language. Did Iiliescu & Co really leave the deceased Communist Party a leader on paper until December 1991? Hello, Biruitorul,
You are a very experienced editor but I wanted to remind you that any time you tag a page for any type of deletion (CSD, PROD, AFD/RFD/TFD/etc.), you need to post a notification on the talk page of the page creator so they are aware of the tagging and any problems with an article they created. Many editors find it easiest to use Twinkle, once you set up your Preferences to "Notify page creator", then Twinkle will post these notices for you whenever you tag a page for deletion.
Please remember to post talk page notices in the future when you tag a page for deletion, it's especially important for PRODs because the page creator might be able to address any existing problems in an article and make the deletion unnecessary. Thank you for all your work on Misplaced Pages. Liz 20:46, 26 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Liz: Although good practice, notifying the article creator is not an absolute requirement. Both PROD and CSD policy pages state that the nominator "should notify the page creator and any major contributors". For AfD the language is even more watered down "Consider letting the authors know on their talk page...".-- Jezebel's Ponyo 21:04, 26 October 2021 (UTC)

Pitești Photo Collage
Hi. Some years ago I setup a photo collage for Pitești which you have taken down, see this edit: https://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Pite%C8%99ti&direction=prev&oldid=800919591. I have done this for many cities in Romania, to showcase their historical architecture and other landmarks, in line with other cities around the world. You took that photo collage down with the message: "more work needed - at least two of the images are duplicated later on, which makes no sense". I will replace the duplicated images and will put the collage back up, but otherwise please be specific regarding "more work needed". Also, please write here if you have any other suggestions/feedback about the photo collage, instead of taking it down again. If you have any photos you'd like me to include, please send me the links here. I'll start doing it in a few days. Thanks! Razvan Valentin Marinescu 14:19, 30 August 2022 (UTC)

Just a quick correction to the prior message about the 2022 MILHIST coordinator election! Question regarding the list of Ion Rimaru's victims
I noticed on Ion Rimaru's page that you have Viorica Tatu listed as one of his victims. In the book Rimaru: Butcher of Bucharest by Mike Phillips and Stejarul Olaru they say this woman was identified as Margareta Enache. They usually directly cite militia records but for whatever reason they didn't in this section, so I can't give you a direct militia reference, although I was under the impression they were still referencing militia and hospital records. Can you tell me where you got the name Viorica Tatu from, and if you have a source for that name? I'm just trying to clear up who this woman really was and why there are multiple names cited for her. Feel free to send Romanian references, I do speak Romanian, I just haven't lived there for so long I'm not confident in writing in Romanian. Thanks in advance, and I appreciate all the work you've done to add to Misplaced Pages! MysteriousFox (talk) 18:42, 23 October 2022 (UTC)
Nasty Vlădoiu
Hello, Biruitorul,
You tagged this article with both a PROD and AFD and in neither case did you post a notification of the deletion tagging on the page creator's talk page. This is an important step of the deletion process regardless of your opinion of the article.
I suggest you try out Twinkle, an editing tool, to tag pages for deletion. Once you set up your Twinkle Preferences to "Notify page creator", then when you tag a page for deletion, Twinkle will notify the page creator for you. Content creators are entitled to know when articles they started are being considered for deletion so they can participate in the discussion. Luckily, in this case, bots informed the page creator when you didn't post a notification but I don't think you should rely on bots, you should just make posting a talk page notice a regular part of any deletion tagging you do. Twinkle makes this very easy and has many, many other handy features to simplify tagging articles and posting to noticeboards.
I also think that your AFD deletion rationale in this case was unnecessarily sarcastic and insulting to the page creator. Every day I delete dozens of autobiographical articles that new editors have created, it's the most common subject that editors write about they start editing so the fact that Nasty Vlădoiu wrote about themselves was more typical than unusual in my experience of looking at hundreds of expiring drafts every day. New editors are unfamiliar with Misplaced Pages policies so they don't know that autobiographies are discouraged until they are educated that this is the case on this platform. Thank you. Hi @Biruitorul: For the editor in question. Looking at it, they put a whole block of promotional unsourced content on Wikipie which is illegal. I would post a <nowki> Hello, I'm Scope creep. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Misplaced Pages as a "soapbox" are against Misplaced Pages policy and not permitted; Misplaced Pages articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Misplaced Pages. Thank you. in twinke, as its meant to promote the company. 2nd I post a {{uw-unsourced2}} as they are now putting in references. Lastly, I would post a {{uw-coi1}} and post a note the coin noticeboard with their details and your suspicions, so the editor can be tracked. She clearly has a coi. Once the warning is ratcheted up to 4, i.e. that is why templates are named, an admin can be informed and they will block the person. They can be blocked for WP:UPE from coin. Hope that helps. Sorry I went off the deep end with the outing. I had a similar experience a few weeks ago, so its fresh. scope_creep 08:05, 23 November 2022 (UTC)

Lotte Binder
Hope all is well with you. Seems like forever since we spoke, but I need help. I am working on a new article on Binder. As always, I am sure that the tails on letters will be wrong, but the bigger question is I cannot seem to find when the "Școala normală de fete din Sighișoara" opened. Googling this name, I get variations, (Şcoala Normală de Învăţătoare de fete din Sighişoara", "Şcoala Normală evanghelică de fete din Sighişoara", etc.) but nothing tells me when it opened. The only thing I can definitively find is that it didn't exist in 1904 (page 165) and was merged with the men's normal school in 1948. Any chance you can help me locate a date when it opened? If you are too busy, no worries. SusunW (talk) 19:14, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
- I finished it. If you want to look it over and make sure I didn't butcher the translations and letters to bad. I really appreciate your finding the article on the normal school. That helped a lot. SusunW (talk) 17:51, 24 March 2023 (UTC)

It appears that you have been canvassing—leaving messages on a biased choice of users' talk pages to notify them of an ongoing community decision, debate, or vote—in order to influence Catholic Church in Romania. While friendly notices are allowed, they should be limited and nonpartisan in distribution and should reflect a neutral point of view. Please do not post notices which are indiscriminately cross-posted, which espouse a certain point of view or side of a debate, or which are selectively sent only to those who are believed to hold the same opinion as you. Remember to respect Misplaced Pages's principle of consensus-building by allowing decisions to reflect the prevailing opinion among the community at large. Thank you. ~ Pbritti (talk) 13:13, 28 March 2023 (UTC)

Maria C. Buțureanu
Okay, so I am back with another query. When I was working on Binder, I ran across Buțureanu's name. She seems pretty notable: wrote some of the first textbooks for primary students in Romania and the first social study on women there. I asked for this source from the Resource Exchange, but perhaps you know where an open access copy can be obtained? Then there is this (p 391), which seems to be a CV of sorts? Sort of like the Scandinavian encyclopedic lexicons, it uses a whole bunch of abbreviations, which are hard to decipher. I think that is says that she worked at the pedagogical institute of Iași from 1886-1888, then taught at a provincial school in Neamț county in 1893, 4th grade at Iași School #6 in 1894, but returned to Neamț in 1896. Does that look right? No worries if you are too busy. I always appreciate your help, if you can give it. SusunW (talk) 17:32, 11 April 2023 (UTC)
- And as promised, I am back. Did Romania use the Pupil-teacher system? That might explain the fact that sources are confusing as to whether she was actually teaching. SusunW (talk) 18:58, 11 April 2023 (UTC)
It may take a few minutes from the time the email is sent for it to show up in your inbox. You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{You've got mail}} or {{ygm}} template.

Image copyright problem with File:SMehedinti.JPG
Thank you for uploading File:SMehedinti.JPG.
This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.
While the image description page states the source and copyright status of the derivative work, it only names the creator of the original work without specifying the status of their copyright over the work.
Misplaced Pages takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the original image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. Thanks again for your cooperation. — Ирука 21:21, 27 August 2023 (UTC)

Hi there. I noticed you nominated more than 20 articles at AfD on the same day. As these discussions take place over the same timeframe and there is a dearth of regular editors at AfD, it helps to space such nominations out over time. WP:BEFORE
Hi! Just wanted to reach out to let you know that, before nominating, you must always follow WP:BEFORE - which is not optional - which includes doing routine searches for sources before bringing an article to AfD. You clearly failed to do so in Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Embassy of the United States, Managua, Embassy of the United States, Tegucigalpa, Embassy of the United States, Quito, Embassy of the United States, Port of Spain, Embassy of the United States, Asunción, despite the online availability of sources, both in English and Spanish. Please consider this a procedural word of caution that should have come to you much sooner: nominations should always be done with the idea that the time of Misplaced Pages editors is precious, and it should not be wasted with frivolous nominations if sources exist. DYK for Mihail Moxa
On 7 April 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Mihail Moxa, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in the first Romanian universal chronicle, Mihail Moxa shows "the God of the Old and New Testaments baptizing His stars with the names of Olympian deities"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Mihail Moxa. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Mihail Moxa), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Boštjan Marko Turk
You removed most references to Turk's books (monographs). Each monograph is referenced in the National bibliographic system (https://www.cobiss.si/en/): https://bib.cobiss.net/bibliographies/si/webBiblio/bib201_20241010_152908_a4726883.html. I don't understand what could be wrong with these references? You removed also the reference to Turk's ORCID page: https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3253-2664 I have therefore reinstated the references to Turk's books.
Why does an entry of a book in a national bibliographic system not count as an independent source for the existance of that book? Francsolina (talk) 08:16, 11 October 2024 (UTC)

WikiProject assessment tags for talk pages
Thank you for your recent articles, including Bulevardul Lascăr Catargiu, which I read with interest. When you create a new article, can you add the WikiProject assessment templates to the talk of that article? See the talk page of the article I mentioned for an example of what I mean. Usually it is very simple, you just add something like {{WikiProject Keyword}} to the article's talk, with keyword replaced by the associated WikiProject (ex. if it's a biography article, you would use WikiProject Biography; if it's a United States article, you would use WikiProject United States, and so on). You can also use a friendly script for that. Which can be activated with one click after turning automatic script intallation in your Preferences->Gadgets (check the "Install scripts without having to manually edit JavaScript files" option and save page; then visit the script page and click install; then go to your new article and you'll find the new Rater menu).
You do not have to rate the article if you do not want to, others will do it eventually. Those templates are very useful, as they bring the articles to a WikiProject attention, and allow them to start tracking the articles through Misplaced Pages:Article alerts and other tools. For example, WikiProject Poland relies on such templates to generate listings such as Article Alerts, Popular Pages, Quality and Importance Matrix and the Cleanup Listing. Thanks to them, WikiProject members are more easily able to defend your work from deletion, or simply help try to improve it further. Feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like more information about using those talk page templates. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:24, 14 November 2024 (UTC)

Articles written by Alexander Tuschinski
Dear Biruitorul,
thank you for the discussions and for voicing your opinions about articles I created and modified, and I gather from your posts you have strong opinions about me and those articles. I do respect your work in making wikipedia more complete and ensuring its quality. As I assume we may share many similar ideas about making wikipedia thorough and neutral in tone, I respectfully reach out directly, in the hope that we might even end up having a productive collaboration in the future on some Romanian topics.
In the deletion discussion of the article on my father Paul, you used some not-so-neutral language about the fact that I am the person who wrote these articles, even quite personal, without directly critiquing the contents and style of the articles I write. I hope we may be closer than you assume in motivation - though I do prefer to discuss article quality, not presumed motivation of the authors. As you notice, I write on Misplaced Pages under my real name, in order to ensure full transparency - I believe had I written under a pseudonym, you would perceive this differently, because I strongly feel the articles themselves do not lead to such critiques you are making.
You noticed I wrote articles about my ancestors - Demeter and Constantin Ritter von Tuschinski, and related topics. You said you had doubts about them in a public discussion, and did not follow up with details. As I presume you have the best intentions, and I hope you presume the same about me, I want to tell you about my motivation in a rather personal way - despite my belief that only the article quality counts, not the motivation. In post-WW2 Romania, my public family history was basically "buried", discussing Northern Bukovina and its society became a taboo. I have not yet even be able to find out the fate of Demeter post-1950, a time when many of his former colleagues were arrested just for being high-ranking functionaries in pre-1947 Romania. I found, with the exception of an article by Mircea Dutu, no post-WW2 articles discussing Demeter and his contributions. It was fascinating, and I started a PhD in history now about his biography.
A year ago, I started academic research on my great-grandfather, and by now discovered about 2000 pre-WW2 articles and publications mentioning him and his family, dozens are directly quoted and linked to in the wikipedia articles I wrote. In this research, I was amazed how much notable Bukovinian history has so far not been analysed and was "invisible" online, much of it "buried" in the 1947-1989 period. I immediatley felt it is important to expand public knowledge on those topics. As I am related, I put a strong focus on neutral wording and quoting from reputable sources, and never hide my connection, as you can also see on the respective "Talk" pages. As I am currently writing my PhD on Demeter, and I am quite aware of a neutral style and quoting style, which, so far, I'm happy to believe I have achieved in my wikipedia edits - you did not critique the content of the articles, but mostly fact that I wrote them.
About a year ago, it became my goal to make Misplaced Pages more complete, adding more articles about my ancestors and related topics that enhance public knowledge of Northern Bukowina, the Kingdom of Romania and subsequent years. Their notability is easily seen from the many sources, I located and digitized photos, and so on, which is a lot of work. The article about Constantin, for example, for the first time includes a complete bibliography of him that I researched with the help of librarians in Cluj for several months. In Socialist Romania, Constantin was careful to not ever publicly mention the books he had authored in Cernauti, and now, due to the Misplaced Pages article, finally a bibliography is available online. I work with a lot of idealism, and plan to write more articles about Northern Bukowina during that era, about notable friends and colleagues of my ancestors and institutions they were involved in - all in a suitable style for Misplaced Pages, quoting accurate sources, and where I feel it adheres to Misplaced Pages's notability guidelines. I feel this motivation leads to very thoroughly researched and accurate articles. As you see, I also expanded and corrected several other related articles, too.
About my father Paul, whose academic career you critiqued in the deletion discussion of his article: I welcomed the discussion, as during it, I realized I might have misunderstood some notability criteria. Though, I was quite surprised by your emotional-sounding, negative critique. As you refered to him and his academic career in rather emotional terms, calling him my "papa" and saying he "never even managed to become a professor": In Socialist Romania, Paul Tuschinski faced challenges in his academic career merely because of his family background - while I understand and respect that the notability criteria were apparently not fulfilled in that article, I hope this makes you see the value I put to a neutral, respectful tone in discussion.
Re: the article dealing with me: I started completing and correcting it, again, being transparent about who I am, being particularly careful about the neutral wording and only quoting sources. Your critique has led to accurate information that is referenced online being deleted (birth date, alma mater, my full name), that I believe would normally not be deleted from articles. About my full last name "Ritter von Tuschinski" - from your message, I feel you assumed I had "given" myself that title on Misplaced Pages, so you had it deleted. But it is my actual full last name. The aristocratic title was used a lot in the Kingdom of Romania still until the 1940s. In Socialist Romania, it became a taboo. As I write in my foreword to Constantin's collected works (available at several libraries in Romania soon), he made sure to carefully hide and pass on documentation of the title in Socialist Romania, in order to restore it in some uncertain future. That restoration was successful. I added my full name including middle name and title to the page because I wanted to complete Misplaced Pages with accurate information about my full name (as would be no issue with an article about another person). With my current research, another, private, motivation (that actually shall play no role in gauging an edit's quality) is to finally again make public what had to be hidden in Socialist Romania. I understand your concern my full name might not have been quoted from good enough a source, and I would have hoped you reach out to me first so I can remedy it.
I hope this gives you an idea of my motivation - I want to help expanding wikipedia with accurate articles about notable topics interwined with my family history and Romanian history, which was basically made "invisible" 1947-1989. I aim to write in a neutral style as if I were not related, spending weeks researching and writing an article sometimes. This research, so far, has been quite lauded by historians I encountered, and I hope seeing my motivation, you can get a more accurate idea. If you like, it would be wonderful to maybe even collaborate in researching, for example about Demeter's post-1950 fate, which must be still hidden in archives in Brasov, where you might have easier access :) My next edits would be about Demeter von Tuschinski's WW1 career, which is based on research I am presently doing at Österreichisches Staatsarchiv Wien, and which yields some fascinating insights into Austrian-Hungarian military history in Czernowitz 1917/18 that has not yet been addressed or published anywhere.
Yours sincerely, Alexander ATuschinski (talk) 13:38, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
- I repeat my earlier comments at my talk page, i.e. you should not have been directly editing articles about yourself, your relatives, your films, etc.
- While it is interesting to hear your motivations, all of the relevant edits were contrary to Misplaced Pages's policy on Conflict of Interest, here WP:COI.
- Also, Misplaced Pages is not a platform for original research WP:OR because Misplaced Pages seeks only to reflect what is contained in reliable and already published sources, as per WP:V and WP:RS.
- Therefore edits about a family member based on original research in archives (non-published material) would breach at least three separate Misplaced Pages policies.
- I would urge you to abide by Misplaced Pages policies and guidelines.
- Kind regards, Axad12 (talk) 16:29, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
AfD possibilities
Hi,
Following the deletion of Paul Tuschinski can I suggest that Demeter Ritter von Tuschinski and Constantin Ritter von Tuschinski also be referred to AfD?
I would do so myself but AfD isn't a process I'm familiar with.
Many thanks, Axad12 (talk) 16:47, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
- Following recent communication from the article creator on my talk page, I would encourage you once again to refer the two articles above to AfD.
- Regards, Axad12 (talk) 20:52, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
