On November 23 2009, a Lockheed Martin KC-130 crashed into a railway shortly after taking off from Pisa International Airport. All 5 people on board were killed. The aircraft broke up and caught fire when it hit the ground.The cause of the crash is still undetermined. The aircraft was a Lockheed Martin KC-130 operated by the Italian Air Force, which at the time was 9 years-old with manufacter serial number 5497. The aircraft departed from Pisa for a training or military flight (depends source). The aircraft failed to gain altitude, came in a railway, broke up and caught fire. The aircraft crashed at Le Rene, a village in Italy, and all 5 occupants on board died.
