SEMI-RETIRED

My will to participate in Misplaced Pages has waned due to the harassment it brings, both on and off Misplaced Pages, with real consequences to living persons and their families. I am following only those articles I have contributed to extensively, and issues or content areas where bullies predominate. I receive pings by email only; I may continue to occasionally check my watchlist and email, but please don't count on me to regularly respond to queries or to keep up with the work I once did. This user is no longer very active on Misplaced Pages.

In appreciation

The Winnowing Fan Barnstar
For your decades-long effort to separate the grain from the chaff. Best wishes, ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 18:50, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
The Helping Hand Barnstar
Hi Sandy! I was assigned to the AD article a long while ago with some peers in my class and have been keeping tabs on the article since then. Similar to the previous barnstar (above), I'm honestly a huge fan of your work - you were super helpful back when I was learning the ropes of Misplaced Pages editing and I wanted to come back and say THANK YOU for all that. I hope all is well and that you know all your efforts are appreciated and remembered :) Bharatss-SB (talk) 20:37, 15 August 2024 (UTC)

Thank you!

The Original Barnstar
To SandyGeorgia on the occasion of the Minneapolis FA being kept. You put in years of work keeping this article honest. Thank you! -SusanLesch (talk) 17:36, 6 October 2024 (UTC)

A g.o.a.t. for you!

When I grow up I want to do edits like you do Sandy, you are the g.o.a.t. in my book.

A cup of tea for you!

Request for input

Sandy, I know you're quite busy, but I was wondering if you could spare the time sometime to look over Talk:Landis's Missouri Battery#Revamping. I either slipped a substandard article through FAC in 2020, or my perfectionism is flaring up again. Or maybe a mix of the two. Hog Farm Talk 03:01, 22 October 2024 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Barnstar of Diligence
Went through some of the J. K. Rowling archived discussions from the past few months, out of curiosity. Your diligence in trying to clean up the article, your tireless attempts to keep a civil environment all-around, and most of all your continued efforts to remain impartial and mindful of proper policies and guidelines, impressed me, regardless of whether I agreed or not with your suggested changes. Thanks for your work. LaughingManiac (talk) 23:00, 24 October 2024 (UTC)

Invitation to provide feedback

Inspired by Worm That Turned's re-RfA where he noted administrators don't get a lot of feedback or suggestions for improvement, I have decided to solicit feedback. I'm reaching out to you as you are currently one of the users I've selected as part of my recall process. I hope you will consider taking a few moments to fill out my feedback form. Clicking on the link will load the questions and create a new section on my user talk. Thanks for your consideration. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 16:03, 2 December 2024 (UTC)

Help with Neurocysticercosis

Hi Sandy, I know you aren't super active as of right now but your name has come up a couple times when I've reached out to others and I know you have quite a bit of experience with WPMED and the FAC proccess. I am trying to get Neurocysticercosis to FAC and I'm seeking input from anyone who can help. I've opened a peer review at Misplaced Pages:Peer review/Neurocysticercosis/archive1 if you would like to weigh in. Thanks in advance and I hope you are doing well. NPP Coordination

To answer your question, Hey man im josh would probably be the right coordinator to ask about such things in the future. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 15:53, 13 December 2024 (UTC)

Yeah, I'm usually available to help out and take a look into things. Novem Linguae is another great option as the lead coordinator, as is Rosguill who, while not listed as a coordinator, is arguably our best admin in the NPP realm. Significa liberdade and Clovermoss are another couple who I've seen making effort to help coach up and address issues with patrollers. There's obviously other admins involved as well, but those are the folks that I've noticed putting their foot forward for communication, coaching, and to address possible issues with patrollers directly. Though to be clear, I think you took the right approach by reaching out to discus the issue with them first. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:24, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
@Barkeep49, Joe Roe, and Hey man im josh: thanks so much for looking in. It seems that we finally have a promising new Venezuelan editor, and I'm so sorry I simply have no free time to help better guide them, and no one I can recommend to do that either. Real life has been unkind and I can barely keep up (BK49, I realize I owe you another response to a query still on this page <sigh>) ... SandyGeorgia (Talk) 21:50, 13 December 2024 (UTC)

Season's Greetings

Season's Greetings
Wishing everybody a Happy Holiday Season, and all best wishes for the New Year! The Adoration of the Magi in the Snow (1563) by Pieter Bruegel the Elder is my Wiki-Christmas card to all for this year. Johnbod (talk) 17:36, 17 December 2024 (UTC)

Greetings and a request

Can you take a look at Licancabur and see if it's ready for a FAC? There is a bit of pre-discussion here. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 09:25, 20 December 2024 (UTC)

Hi, Jo-Jo Eumerus; I'm sorry that IRL issues have made it near impossible for me to help out at FAC and FAR anymore. I can barely keep up with anything, have explained that privately to many WikiFriends, but have been drug back in with the advocacy issues that occur at PANDAS every time it makes the news, requiring extreme participation to educate SPAs on talk. I had a quick glance and don't think it's quite ready yet. Here's an example of a rough patch:
The volcano is in the Puna de Atacama/Cordillera Occidental of the Andes. Politically, it is located in the Antofagasta Region of Chile and the Potosí Department of Bolivia; the border goes over Licancabur.
The sentence is convoluted, not sure why the slash between the two ranges, not sure "politically" is needed, the border clause is hard to understand, and there's a wayward period between the and the . Also I'd completely re-organize the fist three sentences in the lead (the reader has to click out to know that Juriques is another volcano, so I'd join the "it is part of" sentence to the first sentence, and move the "south of the" clause elsewhere. I'm sorry I only had time for a quick glance. I wish I could say things would settle down for me enough for me to engage as you deserve, but I know they won't. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 16:00, 21 December 2024 (UTC)
