Kreis Koschmin was one of several Kreise (English: counties) in the southern administrative district of Posen, in the Prussian province of Posen.

Military command
Kreis Koschmin was part of the military command in Posen (German: Bezirkskommando) at Kosten.
Court system
The main court (German: Landgericht) was in Lissa, with smaller courts (German: Amtsgericht) in Koschmin and Krotoschin.
Standesämter
"Standesamt" is the German name of the local civil registration offices which were established in October of 1874 soon after the German Empire was formed. Births, marriages and deaths were recorded.
