- Danish Estonia, a dominion of Denmark in what is now northern Estonia in 1219-1346, and in Ösel in 1206 and in 1559-1645.
- Principality of Estonia (Estland), a short-lived principality in 1561-1578.
- Swedish Estonia, a dominion of Sweden in 1578-1721 in what is now northern Estonia.
- Reval Governorate, a guberniya of Russian Empire formed in what had previously been Swedish Estonia, and was later known as Governorate of Estonia in 1796-1918.
