The New Delhi Railway Station (station code NDLS) is the main railway station in Delhi, and is one of the largest stations in India. It handles over three hundred trains each day.The station has 12 platforms for berthing of Trains. The New Delhi station holds the record for the largest route interlock system in the world. The station is located about two kilometres north of Connaught Place, in central Delhi.
Most east- and northbound trains originate here. Some of the important trains that originate from New Delhi are:

- Mumbai Rajdhani Express
- Kolkata Rajdhani Express
- Guwahati Rajdhani Express
- Tamil Nadu Express
- Andhra Pradesh Express
- Bhopal Shatabdi Express
- Lucknow Shatabdi Express
- Kalka Shatabdi Express
- Amritsar Shatabdi Express
On 3rd July 2007 it was announced that UK-based architecture firm, Terry Farrell and Partners, would design a new greenfield railway station for the same site, to be operational by the time of the Delhi Commonwealth Games in 2010.
