The Mysore Kingdom (1399-1947) was founded by Yaduraya in 1399 as a feudatory of the Vijayanagara Empire and became an independent kingdom in early 17th century, after the decline of the Vijayanagara empire. Though many scholars and musicians may have existed in their court from the begining of their rule, it is only from the rule of Raja Wodeyar (1578 CE) that records mention scholars and writers and their writings and only from the rule of King Ranadheera Kanteerava Narasaraja Wodeyar (1638) records of these writings are actually available.
