Ereinion Gil-galad was a fictional character in J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth. He was one of the Elven kings who helped Isildur defeat Sauron at the battle of Dagorlad.

According to The Silmarillion, Gil-Galad was born near the end of the First Age of Middle-earth. He was the son of Fingon, the High King of Middle-earth who had been slain in the Fifth Battle of Beleriand (Nirnaeth Arnoediad). After the King of Gondolin, Turgon, perished in the fall of that city, Gil-Galad was named the High King of the Noldor in Middle-earth.

Gil-Galad was the ruler of the Elven kingdom of Eregion in the Second Age, and his people suffered grievously during the War of the Elves and Sauron. He was a friend of the Numenorian Faithful, and he provided assistance to the Exiles as they fled the Downfall of Numenor.

Gil-galad led the army of the Elves during the Battle of Dagorlad, but he was slain by Sauron during the final combat on the slopes of Mount Doom. After Gil-Galad's passing, the lineage of the Hing Kings came to an end.
