Thanks for the thanks! :)
Hi,
The feeling is mutual (although, to be honest, I can't recall that we've disagreed on much of anything, and if we did, I'm probably wrong!) As for the present case, bigotry almost always intersects/overlaps with stupidity. I can't decide which of these evil forces is most at work here; but, the matter seems headed for the proper outcome. One wonderful consequence of Misplaced Pages's global community is that hatred is much more readily exposed and condemned here than it is in this idiot's America. Best wishes, Xoloz 03:08, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Elevation (psychology) --Emesee 00:48, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- I believe this is the ultra-shorthand version of "How dare you delete my article?" — Emesee is the latest incarnation of Remi0o (talk · contribs), the original creator. As with most of Remi's contribs, I think this one veers way over the WP:FRINGE precipice quite aside from being a pure dicdef, but I've offered to userify it if he's able to improve it. — iridescent 03:27, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Deletion of my text on Socjalizm (Poland) political organization
You've deleted the above mentioned article because of lack of the references. Right now it's impossible to find any references, as the group hasn't been described anywhere apart from its own website. I can, however, swear that the info given is true as it's based on my own experiences. I kept it totally neutral so that it can't be considered a propaganda article or so.
Furthermore, I think that the described organization is absolutely worth this article. If there's an article on IMT sections in another countries, why not this one?

Starkey International Institute for Household Management
I object to your closure of Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Starkey International Institute for Household Management as delete. One, what BLP concern? If you mean the sentence "Some students, former Starkey employees, and several wealthy clients have criticized the program and its owner", this was cited to Warner's article at the bottom. If you don't consider him a reliable source, just remove the offending reference and sentence. Deleting the whole article is an overreaction. Two, as to notability, the institute received significant coverage from multiple, reliable sources. How does it not pass notability? In addition to the sources cited, there is this article in The Times. Three, where's the consensus to delete? That debate did not produce consensus of any sort. Please restore the article and send it to a proper afd. Picaroon (t) 02:24, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
- Please see Misplaced Pages:Deletion review/Log/2007 November 8. If consensus determines I wrote an "attack page", I'll resign my adminship and leave the project. If your deletion is overturned, I'd appreciate an apology at the very least. Picaroon (t) 02:10, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

No one expects a Pigman admin!
Wallowing in my RfA: This time it's personal... | ||
My sincere thanks for your support in my request for adminship, which ended with 51 supports, 0 opposes, and 0 neutral. Doubtless it was an error to put one of the government-bred race of pigmen in any position of authority, but I hope your confidence in me proves justified. Even a man pure of heart and who says his prayers at night can become a were-boar when the moon is full and sweet. Fortunately, I'm neither a were-pig nor pure of heart so this doesn't appear to be an imminent danger to Misplaced Pages for the moment. Fortunate as well because were-pig hooves are hell on keyboards and none too dexterous with computer mice. If ever I should offend, act uncivil, misstep, overstep, annoy, violate policy, or attempt to topple the fascist leadership of Misplaced Pages, please let me know so I can improve my behaviour and/or my aim. I am not an animal; I am an admin. And, of course, if there is any way in which I can help you on Misplaced Pages, please do not hesitate to ask me. Despite my japes, I am indeed dedicated to protecting and serving Misplaced Pages to the best of my foppish and impudent abilities. I will strive to be an admirable admin, shiny and cool, reasonable and beatific. Pigman/trail 05:25, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

a suggestion
I suggested you withdraw this nomination, and consider being less hasty when nominating articles for deletion in future. I have some concerns as to how deletions work on the wikipedia. I have decided to leave what I intend to be civil notes for wikipedians when I have a concern about their action in deletions.
In this case it is your hastiness that triggered my concern. Since LaMenta3 was able to expand the article so quickly, if you did any kind of web search prior to your nomination I am afraid it fell short of what the rest of us should be able to expect of nominators. Nominators let us down when they nominate articles for deletion that are then quickly rescued.
I didn't realize you were an administrator when I made my original suggestion. That shouldn't really matter though, should it? As an administrator, perhaps I should expect you to try to measure up to a higher level of accountability, because you should be trying to set an example?
I think we may have participated in some of the same discussions in the past. But I don't remember any of the details. I have tried to be civil and tactful here. If you don't find this comment civil or tactful, I failed, and you can have my apology for that.
Cheers! Geo Swan 14:58, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, I agree. Several of your AfDs just closed as "keep":
- and several more look like they're headed that way:
- I've recently discovered several good tools for notability searches that have saved me a lot of wasted time:
- Google News -- only the last month's news
- Google News' Archive search is much more useful. You can access it from a Google News search page by using the Archives' "All dates link on the left side
- Google Scholar search for academic topics and historical figures.
- New York Times archive search -- articles are mostly free but if you need a non-free one, let me know since I never use all of my 100 articles/month I get as a paid subscriber.
- I can usually hit all these in about 60 seconds.
- I hope this is helpful! --A. B. 18:01, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
Duchess Marie of Mecklenburg
Duchess Marie was not the highest titled person in Mecklenburg, which was one area composed of two grand duchies (not duchies). Marie was a minor member of a grand ducal family. The highest titled people in Mecklenburg would have been the Grand Dukes of Mecklenburg-Strelitz and Mecklenburg-Schwerin and their wives, who were grand duchesses. "Consensus tends" doesn't mean a thing when the articles contain nothing which merits notability. Indeed, notability does not exist here. Please delete the article or tell me right away so I can start an AFD and get it out of the way. Please note Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Princess Victoria Marina Cecilie of Prussia and Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Prince Jean of Nassau. A family (Mecklenburg) may be notable as a whole, but individual members may not. This is the case with Duchess Marie. Charles 01:49, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- Members of the British peerage hold substantive titles and there is no multiplicity of titles as there is in the German system. We also don't have articles for children of peers that simply state birth, death, marriage and children. Charles 01:55, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Lowick, Lowick, and Lowick
Hi - just a friendly note to let you know that England's geography stubs now have separate templates for each county (all in the form CountyName-geo-stub). If you're going to make any more like the three Lowick stubs it would save a little work further down the line if you used them rather than England-geo-stub. It's no big deal, but I thought I'd point it out if you didn't know about the by-county templates. Cheers, Grutness...wha? 23:52, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- Ah, that makes sense :) Yeah, I must admit to having done the same myself with cut & paste before now. To answer your question, no, I've never heard of Northumberlandshire, and I'm pretty sure it's never used; "-land" has a roughly similar meaning to "-shire", so it would be redundant. The only three counties with an "optional -shire" would be Devon/Devonshire, Dorset/Dorsetshire and Somerset/Somersetshire - and its archaic for the last two (it would be very rare to find either "Dorsetshire" or "Somersetshire" except in historical documents). A redirect for Devon at Devonshire-geo-stub might be useful, though. Grutness...wha? 00:18, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

This article was deleted because I didnt not assert its importance. Well the artist has worked with famous Dr. Dre protoge Knoc-Turn'al. His first single is actually with Knoc-Turn'al. This artist has opened for several larger artists in the DFW area, most notable from the DSR group and Knoc-Turn'al at a concert at Joe Pool Lake in Arlington, Texas. I also noticed i was not the first person to create an artice about this artist, which to me says something as well. The artists popularity is rising at an exponential rate, and his debut album due out in the next few months is supposed to change the way people perceive rappers from texas

Hunters Brooke AFD
Hello! Thanks you for deleting my hard work and time, I apologize if this article may have seemed as a “attack page” but it wasn’t, if you looked at the citations you would have seen that “Patrick” and five other assailants were involved in a white separatist gang that was planning to burn down Hunters Brooke. Also, if this is the state worst residential arson fire then I find it imperative that the article is restored. For it is an article in progress. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Daven200520 (talk • contribs) 08:23, November 15, 2007

Hi, Thanks for your reply.
How come I missed an AFD or any part of the process to delete the article ? It is a shame that the ability to discuss the issue was not given. In any case the guy is notable. Very much so. He uses several names (this is why when you search on only 1 version you will find less material) , he was involve in 2 (not 1) cases in which ISM activists were killed by IDF soldiers and he is notable for other issues as well Please recreate the article, including the photo (which to this day is on his own web site) . Thanks. . still waiting for your reply as I can not find any record for discussion about this AFD or delete of the article. Please reconstruct the article and nominate it for AFD as it should have been. Thanks. Zeq (talk) 05:08, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

- WP:MUSIC states that an artist must be played on radio (Has been placed in rotation nationally by any major radio network.) a lot to be notable:
- Again, the 9th release in this series featured a huge hit, this time by his alter ego ‘Project Omeaga’, with ‘Prednison-Attack’. Both loved and hated at the same time, this track must have been the most airplayed hardcore track of 2003.
- Perhaps you do, perhaps you don't know that in the Netherlands a lot of hardcore is played.
- Those other WP:x are not criteria, mere suggestions/degrees of notability. So I don't really see what your problem was, but still: nevermind. Mallerd (talk) 19:43, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

I've found the publication date. It's 1921, so it's not under copyright. The source is Milton Bates's Wallace Stevens: A Mythology of Self. Also there's confirmation in that the poem appears in the Librivox edition of Stevens's public domain works. Normally I have this information when I post a poem/commentary to Misplaced Pages, but I was at my office and away from my books when I did this one. Hi, I noticed that you placed a deletion tag on the article citing that it did not have any source. It has been a while, so I'm not sure. could you clarify please? Also, you referenced CSD G6, but I think that there might be some controversy over the deletion, because I have mentioned that the page does (anecdotally) help reduce spam on the Bamf page. comments? McKay (talk) 19:22, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm, the shampoo link must have been newer, the acronym used to link to Dane Cook, as he is reportedly the one who coined the term. There was also a link to Bamf as like a see also, or something. So, those are the two links. See, the Bamf article has been vandalized several times with references to the acronym, and I think that having the BAMF article hatnote at the top, people saw that the content was there, and left Bamf alone (more). Thoughts? McKay (talk) 21:21, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
- So yeah, I see where you're coming from, but I don't think the need for it is strong, so I'm probably not going to create it today. McKay (talk) 23:30, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

I will carry the lessons learned from the constructive criticism I have received with me as I edit Misplaced Pages, and heed those lessons. Special thanks to Pedro and Henrik as nominators. Special thanks to Rudget who wanted to. A very special thanks to Moonriddengirl for her eloquence. |

Good on you for getting rid of that guy, of course, but I thought that IP blocks were usually not indefinite, since it's a virtual certainty that somebody else will wind up on the IP sooner or later. Maybe you should downgrade it to a year or so? <eleland/talkedits> 19:31, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
Hello
Hello. I'm a beginner of wikipedia. May you help me? Anti-Americanism. i find some edit is wrong. but i can't edit. article protected. in fornt of page, "unregistered or newly registered users is currently disabled" i'm a new user. i found you can edit this page. so may you help me?
"In South Korea, two junior high school students were killed by American military personnel in a traffic accident at the final stage of a presidential election in 2002. As a result, the Korean public opinion was enraged and Roh Moo-hyun, who advocated anti-Americanism, was elected President. President Roh Moo-Hyun and his administration considerably weakened the alliance of the United States and South Korea. Also, the Iraq War and foreign policy of America was invoked as rationales for inciting negative attitudes towards America in South Korea. In 2007 anti-Americanism spreads rapidly. "
in this, "In 2007 anti-Americanism spreads rapidly. " source is "rape of okinawa". so not relation with south korea. it is obvious WRONG. must move to japan relation sentence. i think this article need rewrite or clean.
addition,
As a result, the Korean public opinion was enraged and Roh Moo-hyun, who advocated anti-Americanism, was elected President.
>> this is lie.
President Roh Moo-Hyun and his administration considerably weakened the alliance of the United States and South Korea.
>> this is lie. given news never metioned.
Also, the Iraq War and foreign policy of America was invoked as rationales for inciting negative attitudes towards America in South Korea.
>> this is uncreditible. please, attach .
In 2007 anti-Americanism spreads rapidly.
>> this is japanese relation. must move to.

Saltash Tunnel
Hi, I see you deleted Saltash Tunnel. The original author of this article (a new editor) was not informed of its candidacy for speedy deletion, neither were members of the relevant Cornwall Wikiproject, where its creation had been announced together with a request from the original author for work to be done on it. Could you reinstate it please to allow editors to work on it? DuncanHill 12:50, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- I have now recreated the article, with a little more context, and the appropriate cats and stubs. DuncanHill 14:32, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for your message. There is an debate which may interest you at Misplaced Pages:Village_pump_(miscellaneous)#Overly_high_standards_for_new_articles.3F. I remain concerned at the failure to notify the original creator or the appropriate wikiproject of the speedying. DuncanHill 18:47, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- I found this comment highly offensive and unecessary "creating an article with no content other than some templates is nothing approaching high standards; from context do we know it was a tunnel, a person's name, a public house, a town, a farm, or a joke? It is not incumbent upon anyone to notify anyone about a speedy deletion, first; second, just because a wikiproject "claims" an article, it does not WP:OWN it; and third, if wikiproject Cornwall is in habit of filling in its missing spaces by adding articles that consist of nothing but two templates as above it is seriously amiss and way out of line of other wikiprojects. Carlossuarez46 18:51, 4 December 2007 (UTC)" The original article was created by a new editor with very little experience, I believe that WP:BITE is worth bearing in mind when dealing with contributions from new editors. The new editor, obviously aware that the article needed work, approached an appropriate wikiproject to request other editors contribute, I believe that this displays good faith on his part, as well as a willingness to collaborate. As to the Wikiproject, it is entirely untrue to allege that "Wikiproject Cornwall fills in its missing spaces by adding articles that consist of nothing but two templates". The wikiproject is not claiming "ownership" of the article - but when an editor invites a wikiproject to improve an article he created it is good manners to invite that project to participate in a deletion process. I am sorry that you do not think it appropriate to invite contributions from wikiprojects, or to invite an original good-faith author to expand his stub. DuncanHill 18:59, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- I do not understand your last comment at my talk page. The Cornwall Wikiproject was never given the opportunity to comment on the speedy, as whoever tagged the article for speedy did not bother telling anyone (and the page is on my watchlist, and I never saw the tag). The original editor entered the article as "needing attention" at the wikiproject - the speedying prevented attention being given. I still say - you should give more consideration to new editors, who may well be driven away by speedy deletions of articles they have created, especially when no-one has the common courtesy to explain what is happening to them. DuncanHill 19:10, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- Final questions on this matter to you - Who tagged the article for speedying, and how long elapsed from the article being tagged and your deletion of it? Thanks. DuncanHill 20:11, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
Nextmedium Article
Greetings - I was informed my article at http://en.wikipedia.org/Nextmedium was deleted. Your comments are as follows:
04:25, 4 December 2007 Carlossuarez46 (Talk | contribs) deleted "Nextmedium" (CSD A7: Article does does not indicate why its subject is important or significant: content was: '{{db-spam}} {{hangon}} {{wikify|date=December 2007}} '''NextMedium''' is a technology company specializing in brand integration. What criteria may I follow so that this subject is considered 'important' or 'significant'? I confess I'm having a hard time understanding why this article would be considered insignificant compared to other Wiki entries for companies such as Google and Verizon. - Rhyman — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rhyman519 (talk • contribs)

Brio Technology
I respect your decision to reject the speedy on this article, maybe I was a little hasty. I would like to note, however, that none of the claims in this article are sourced. Unfortunately I do not have the time to visit and edit Misplaced Pages as much as I used to :( I will tag it with noref. (I think that's the tag haha). Wikidan829 (talk) 13:01, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
Image use
Regardless of above, I found Brio Technology because they were added to an article that I put a good amount of work into, Pivot Table. Recently a few images I created were tagged for deletion. I'm sure what I'm doing is legit, but I may have done something out of my ignorance and used the wrong tag. Would you be able to assist me in legitimizing my images? Deleted article I would like to work on
Hello - back on August 11th of this year, you deleted an article on Matthew Manning as a CSD-A7 (bio). I have no doubt that it was an entirely appropriate deletion. I do, however, think that an article demonstrating his notability can be written. I wonder if it might be possible to move the deleted article over to my userspace so I can give it a shot. If you don't think that would be appropriate, I will understand. Please leave me a message either way. Thanks. Risker (talk) 02:31, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Set The Tone (Band)
Hi there,
You deleted my article on the Scottish band "Set The Tone" on the grounds of "Article about a band that does not assert significance".
I'd appreciate it if you could let me know the minimum I could put on that page in order to avoid deletion as a result of this.
At the time of writing I had been reading the page on "Love and Money", another Scottish band which already had a link to "Set The Tone", but which took you to the wrong "Set The Tone". I basically put up a bare minimum while I tried, through MySpace, to get some information from the former drummer of Set The Tone, Kenny Hyslop. While I haven't had much of a response from Kenny, he is well known in drumming circles for his experience in other bands including Simple Minds. In addition Set The Tone had two singles that reached numbers 62 and 67 of the UK top 100 charts in 1983.
I'd like to be able to build up some more detail on the band but it hasn't helped that the page has been deleted! Of course it may be that I just started it too early, but I would like to add the above information, and would appreciate it if, first of all, you could let me know if that would be enough to be going on with in order to avoid the page being deleted again, and secondly, if you could reinstate the page or provide me with the content I left there.
Thanks a lot. John

Follow Up
Thanks for your reply. I now believe I have enough information on Set The Tone to make a page that is useful. For instance I have a couple of websites, including e.g. http://www.chartstats.com/artistinfo.php?id=3700 that provide details of Set The Tone's singles entries; I also know Kenny Hyslop started Set The Tone with Bobby Paterson who was in Love and Money and also in Primal Scream. Also Kenny was in The Skids, Slik and Simple Minds. If you believe, based on that information, that I can produce a reasonably useful page I would appreciate it if you could let me know and reinstate the page so that I can update it.
Thanks

Regarding Archos Jukebox (my mistake)
I had moved some Archos pages due to a discussion, but after further study on the source link, I attempted to re-move (no pun intended), or re-rename Archos Jukebox series to Archos Jukebox as no proof of the word "series" is actually used. The attempt was fruitless, as the page was used as a re-direct page. I tried blanking it, and moving it again. Turns out that Misplaced Pages doesn't allow a blank page replaced. And then I forgot to revert the blank. I may try requesting a move to admins (from Archos Jukebox series to Archos Jukebox), and if you have the time to do so, that would be a lot of help. --Jw21/PenaltyKillah 06:53, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

This article is different from the article that was tagged and deleted earlier. Please review again.

Your note to me on short comments
"Please don't revert long comments placed on short dab pages as you have done. Those of us who patrol short pages looking for vandalism don't want to see the same articles over and over again." Well, wouldn't it be to your own advantage to make the comment more descriptive of its purpose? Count Sensenderfer
Would you please reconsider the deletion of the Count Sensenderfer article, which I believe was deleted in error. When the article was first started, I patrolled it and found that it was very short. I did find, though, that this is a baseball player who played a significant number of games in the 19th century (see here), which makes him notable. I indicated the article was patrolled at Special:Newpages and tagged it as needing expansion, with the Edit comment that it was a valid article, should be expanded. Another user then added some additional tags. I then suggested to the article's creator on his talk page that he expand the article. In summary, although the article is short, it has a valid place in Misplaced Pages and, when expanded, will demonstrate that. If you would restore the article, it is my hope that User:Kooaidman will expand it. If not, I will do it myself within a week. Thanks for your time. Truthanado (talk) 19:44, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

Faerie's Aire and Death Waltz
Why was this article deleted? The log said 'AFD', but I'm afraid I don't know what that means.
(Update: Sorry, I figured out 'AFD' and I found the discussion on the reasons for deleting the article. I guess I'm personally saddened by the deletion. To me, the brilliance of wikipedia is that I can (and will) find articles on just about any topic imaginable. Especially topics that no other encyclopedia would ever touch. I think "Faerie's Aire and Death Waltz" fall squarely into that category. I obviously missed the discussion, and the vote's over, but I can't help but feel sad that something like John Stump's wonderful works have been eradicated from my favorite encyclopedia.) Regarding the Seth Finkelstein DRV
Since June of last year I have made basically an open offer to nominate borderline BLP bios for deletion upon the subject's request. Back when I first tried this some editors expressed concerns that it would initate a flood of requests. It didn't; I've started exactly five of those nominations. Durova 20:20, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
Deleted Article: Pella Community Day Care Center
Hi there. I'm not a Misplaced Pages expert so I wasn't aware that my article had ever been nominated for deletion. However, the deletion log is not very helpful as it states Prod left uncontested for five days.nn whereas the article Misplaced Pages:PROD lays out the following for administrators (additional emphasis by me):
If you agree that the article should be deleted, delete it giving an informative deletion reason, such as that given by the nominator, not just "expired prod". This is because once the article is deleted, the reason for the prod is no longer visible to non-admins. If you are using an automated script, check that it does not leave an inadequate message.
Even though I missed the five day cutoff, I would still like the pleasure of knowing what could have been done to improve the article to meet standards and perhaps given the oppurtunity to implement it. If it means trudging through the snow to the Pella Library to find some outside references, it can be done. Thanks. Lemon Lover (talk) 05:28, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Misplaced Pages:Requests for adminship/Elonka 3
Thank you for your participation in my RfA. It was definitely a dramatic debate that landed on WP:100, but ultimately was deemed a successful declaration of consensus, and I am now an admin. I definitely paid close attention to everything that was said in the debate, and, where possible, I will try to incorporate the (constructive) criticism towards being a better administrator. I'm taking things slowly for now, partially because of the holidays and all the off-wiki distractions. I'm working my way through the Misplaced Pages:New admin school, carefully double-checking the relevant policies, and will gradually phase into the use of the new tools, with my main goals being to help out with various backlogs. I sincerely doubt you'll see anything controversial coming from my new access level. :) I also fully intend to keep on writing articles, as there are a few more that I definitely want to get to WP:FA status. If you do ever have any concerns about my activities as an administrator, I encourage you to let me know. My door is always open. Have a good new year, --Elonka 01:52, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
