Gary's paradox
Please note that Misplaced Pages is not the place to publish your own research, or your own thoughts. Does Gary's Paradox exist in the literature? Are there any reliable external sources to verify its existence? If not, I'm afraid the page should be deleted as original research. The best place to reply would be on the talk page for the article: Talk:Gary's Paradox. Cheers! Snalwibma (talk) 10:09, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Gary's Paradox
Another editor has added the "{{prod}}
" template to the article Gary's Paradox, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Misplaced Pages's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Misplaced Pages:What Misplaced Pages is not and Misplaced Pages:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Misplaced Pages or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}}
template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BJBot (talk) 10:14, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Your recent edits
Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Misplaced Pages pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 10:25, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
The paradox
Sorry, but WP is a tertiary source, and does not allow publication of what is termed original research. Whether that is itself a paradox is a question you can muse on, if you like - but I think the policy is quite clear. I suggest you read some of the notes for new contributors, etc: WP:Welcome, WP:NOT, for example. But welcome to wikipedia, all the same! Snalwibma (talk) 10:32, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Then how do things become published at all?
Misplaced Pages breaks its own rules: Misplaced Pages
and
how do things become published at all then?
It seems that you publish information about movie plots and information about movies, is Misplaced Pages funded by these entities?— Preceding unsigned comment added by AnaxMcShane (talk • contribs)
- Oh, there are plenty of ways to get things published, and most have them have been in existence for centuries! Try an academic journal, for a start... Misplaced Pages publishes stuff, sure enough, but not original research. It is an encyclopedia, like Encyclopedia Britannica. It's function is to publish tertiary material, not primary research. I suggest you read the explanation at WP:NOT. (And, BTW, I agree that there is far too much on movie plots and TV-show episodes, as if that stuff was as important as scientific discoveries - but that's another issue altogether.) Cheers! Will you work with me on completing this task? AnaxMcShane (talk) 10:56, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
