Geert Wilders is said to publish a movie on the Koran in early 2008, titled Fitna. It is unclear who will broadcast the item, but Wilders will also put a copy on the Internet site Youtube. The Dutch government has already made evacuation plans for Dutch embassies abroad in case the planned movie would lead to mob violence. Wilders has said the movie will elaborate on "verses from the Koran" accompanied by "documentary footage".

Egypt is closely monitoring the situation. In February 2008, Pakistani regulators banned YouTube for several days due to a "blasphemous" video clip believed to be a trailer for Fitna. According to Google, the ban was lifted after the offending material had been removed.

The Taliban has threatened to increase attacks on Dutch soldiers in Afghanistan due to the movie. Prime minister Balkenende of the Netherlands is worried about possible repercussions for Dutch citizens and economic interests. Wilders regards Balkenende as a coward who capitulates to Islam.

Wilders stated that the movie is ready and will be broadcast in March.
