Massie Block is a character from The Clique series of novels. She will be played by Elizabeth McLaughlin in the upcoming film of the same name, which is currently in post-production, and is modeled by Tsarina Merrin

Family

Massie, an only child, lives in an estate with a swimming pool, multiple cabanas, a tennis court, a stone guesthouse (in which Claire and her family reside), a spa, a gym, a pool, and more. Born and raised in Westchester, New York, this spoiled rich eighth-grade alpha owns an "ah-dorable" black pug named Bean, and a white horse, Brownie. But her real pride and joy comes from ruling her exclusive, private-school clique, who have labeled themselves the "Pretty Committee".

Her parents are William and Kendra Block, and are referred throughout the series by their first names. William, a very successful businessman, rarely punishes Massie, and it is assumed that Kendra does "nothing" all day, as stated in "Dial L for Loser". When they get expelled for running off on a camping field trip, for exmaple, her parents still allowed Isaac, their driver, to drop Massie and her friends off at the mall every day - and during school hours.

Appearance

Massie is described as having glossy, dark brown hair, twinkling amber eyes, and highly glossed lips (courtesy of her daily subscription of Glossip Girl). Her hair style changes throughout the series. In the first book, she has a shoulder length bob, then gets caramel-colored highlights in Best Friends for Never, crimps her hair in Invasion of the Boy Snatchers, receives hair extensions in Dial L For Loser, and bangs in Sealed with a Diss. Later, in Bratfest at Tiffany's (which takes place during the first week of eight grade), she apparently grows out her bangs over the summer, and instead has long hair with a purple streak - which, for once, was not done by Jakkob, but rather by herself with a streaking pen stolen from the pocket of Anastia Brees, creator of Be Pretty cosmetics. In the Clique Summer Collection, we soon discover that the purple streak is a reward given to every Be Pretty salesgirl (her summer job, or "jobby," job hobby, as Massie puts it) topsellers, giving them access to the "5-star lifestyle."

Love Life

In the first novel, Massie meets Chris Abeley, a fifteen-year-old who goes to Briarwood Academy, while trail-riding at Galwaugh Farms. She crushes on him, while thinking he likes her back. She then finds out he has a girlfriend

In Best Friends for Never, she has a crush on Cam Fisher, an A-list Briarwood soccer player, but finds out that he likes Claire.. Then, in Revenge of the Wannabes, Massie develops a crush on Derrick Harrington (otherwise known as Derrington) after being informed by gossip-expert Alicia that he liked her. But in Invasion of the Boy Snatchers, Massie gives him her purple rhinestone "M" pin after the losing game, explaining that it'll serve as his MVP pin - only without to V and P. In return, Derrington presents Massie with the Cupid Award that he and Nina won at the LoveStruck Dance.

In The Pretty Committee Strikes Back, Massie lies about her love life to the members of Massie's Underground Clinic for Kissing (MUCK), in an effort to prove that she has more experience in relationships and kissing than Nina Callas - who, thankfully, has returned to Spain. But when her clients blab to Derrington about how Massie "went straight for tongue" the first time they kissed (even though they never did), he assumes that she cheated on him. In his anger, he throws the "M" pin that Massie had given him into the dirt. In a desperate attempt to get her boyfriend back and to prove her to the MUCK girls, Massie devises a plan to kiss Derrington in front of them - but to avoid doing it in front of the soccer team, with whom Derrington is always hanging out with, she brings him to a private area of the campgrounds while Claire (under Massie's instruction) and the girls spy. The plan works out perfectly, and Massie tackles Derrington to the ground, sharing their first kiss. Months later, in It's Not Easy Being Mean, Massie is searching for the key to secure her 8th grade popularity - which means entering Derrington's room for the first time, because according to Alicias mysterious source, Skye Hamilton kissed him. (Derrington says he didn't kiss back though.) But when Massie looks in his room, she discovers, to her dismay, that Derrington is a total slob and wants nothing to do with him anymore. Nearing the end of the book, Massie is delighted to learn that Derrington cleaned his room for her, and they get back together again.

Derrington breaks up with Massie, and the Pretty Committee decides to never date boys thereafter. Little do the know how hard this'll be, because the Briarwood Academy boys will spend their next year at OCD after their school was flooded. In Bratfest at Tiffany's, Massie declares a "boyfast", meaning no member of the New Pretty Committee was allowed flirt or crush on a boy. Especially not the soccer boys, who had dumped them all at Skye's end-of-the-year party. Unfortunately, Massie finds it hard to stick to her own law when her path crosses with Dempsey Soloman (referred to as Humpty Dempsey in his LBR days), a non-soccer playing H(awt) A(lpha) R(ich),and T(oned) with an obvious crush on her. Massie secretly likes Dempsey Solomon but will not admit it.
