Need your Help

I need support in editing the page for Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh from Pakistani-Wikipedians. The page concludes Pakistans link to 9/11 using information from Indian press and much information in that page is without proper references. The page says that ISI gives money to Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh and Sheikh then wired the money to Atta. I have checked some of the references on that page and information in the references is different from what is mentioned in it. I will appreciate any help because I have very less free time these days... Faisal 16:59, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

List of Pakistani television stations and List of Pakistani television and radio channels

Don't merge. The Television and radio stations in Pakistan must have sepearate pages. Pakistan with five regional languages and 165 million people will have hundreds of radio and television stations. The online radio stations are also becaming easier and cheaper to maintain, soon people will adding these channels also. The mass media is exploding and one page will not be enough. We must have seperate pages:

category and image links

Hey. I came across your userpage and I'd just like to point out that you can link to categories and images without using them by addina a colon at the start of the link, like this Category:Food and the same for images Image:Test.jpg. Hope that helps. SeventyThree 15:26, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

Help?

Will you consider commenting on some AfD nominations and merge-delete propositions that I believe are an attempt to drive off a good editor? (OK, she's my wife. But she's exhausted by this fight; her articles are written in good faith and this editor is making a mockery of WP.)

India -> India + Pakistan + Bangladesh_India_+_Pakistan_+_Bangladesh-2006-07-06T10:55:00.000Z">

I and User:Rama's Arrow were discussing linkage of pages to India when refer to pre-1947 India (undivided India). Please have a look at discussion, and comment. You can also invite user interested in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. Following is statement to start:

India after 1947 consists of three countries, Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. When we use word India, in articles, refereeing to whole India, links are such that they bring us to present day India (Republic of India), reducing size of pre-1947 India considerably. Is it possible that when we refer to pre-1947 India we use a term which encompasses whole India not just present day India? Please comment.

Following are suggestions:

Connecticut template

I created redirects to Connecticut today for Southwestern Connecticut, Inland Connecticut, Coastal Connecticut, to de-redlink them. I don't mind writing up the articles but I'm confused on something--I'm from CT originally, I can do up something nice for Coastal--easy enough for that. But to me, growing up in Bridgeport and Stratford, "inland" was simply anything not directly on LI sound. Do we really need that as a category/region? It's kind of an oxymoron for a coastal state. As for southwestern, I can write that up as well, as it really should be seperate from the "Gold Coast".

Thoughts on getting rid of "Inland Connecticut" as a category from the template and simply leaving it as a redirect back to Connecticut? If no one objects in a few days I'll just remove it. I posted this on Template_talk:Connecticut as well. rootology (T) 08:11, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Info on Islamophobic group

Hello,

What follows are the thoughts, expressed in their own words, and in the 'protest signs', of the obscure, very small, but very vocal 'activist group' known as "Protest Warrior".

"What's becoming clear is how the religion of Islam is addicted to war and mayhem. Not a radical minority, not a rogue sect, but its very essence is about submission and sacrifice and proving your worth by worshipping death in this life to gain a paradise of orgies and drunkenness. Their entire history is of warfare, and any accomplishments of their so-called Golden Age has been proven to be merely parasitic off the cultures they've conquered and reduced to dhimmi servitude. That every country under sharia is corrupt, belligerent, desolate and barbaric obviously gives them no pause, except to constantly drive them into further psychotic rage as they refuse to ever accept any responsibility for their conditions. They are akin to the powers in Orwell's 1984; there must always be an enemy. It's no surprise that women are treated like property in these countries as that's the only way Muslim men can feed their egos, to dominate others rather than ever actually produce something."

Kfir Alfia and Alan Lipton, founders of "Protest Warrior"

Their 'protest signs'...

Signs

I thought you might be interested in this group's sentiments. They are currently very actively editing their own article on Wiki and there is a lot of 'group think'. Perhaps you might want to become involved in the editing and discussion process on that page. If you do, please don't vandalize, and try to remain civil. Should you not want to involve youself, please forgive my intrusion.

Copy/paste move

Howdy, I came across the page Haditha massacre, which you created by copy/pasting information from the Haditha killings article. Unfortunately this is not the recommended way to perform such a move. Copy/pasting has the side-effect of breaking the terms of the GFDL, the license which Misplaced Pages is available under, as it removes author credit from the history of the article. I've reverted the move for now but if you still wish it to go ahead, please see Misplaced Pages:How to move a page. If you've any questions, feel free to drop me a line on my talk page. re: Shady Glen deletion

Why was Shady Glen deleted? And without any debate or discussion??? -Sohailstyle 17:42, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Hello. I didn't see anything that met WP:CORP, and therefore it lacked a notability assertion (A7 speedy deletion). Local restaurants are usually written up at one point or another in its local newspaper; is there any evidence this restaurant is notable outside of Manchester? Cheers, Fang Aili 17:46, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
Notability assertion? There was no claim that it was a hugely popular restaurant or known widely outside Manchester. You said that restaurants are usually written about in their LOCAL newspaper, the reference I put was from the Hartford Courant, the state's main newspaper and not from the Journal Inquirer, which is the regional newspaper. I don't really understand why it was deleted, I simple created it to give it space on Misplaced Pages as a reference for future surfers. Perhaps, if there wss something not accordance with the Misplaced Pages Guidelines, then it would have been more proper to have a discussion as wer having now, thanks. 17:52, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
Ok, well let's go over WP:CORP. The primary criterion is "A topic is notable if it has been the subject of non-trivial coverage by two or more published works." I do realize that WP:CORP is a guideline and not a rule, but I just didn't see a notability assertion in the article. Articles should answer the question, "why does this matter?" --Fang Aili 18:05, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
Hey, I restored it. This is a pretty grey area. I noticed that a famous local restaurant in my town has an article too (Kopp's), and there's no indication it has any notability outside of Milwaukee. Anyways, I don't feel like arguing about this, and it is a pretty well-written article. :) Cheers, Fang Aili 18:10, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:AKU urdu logo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:AKU urdu logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Unspecified source for Image:Indus_Plus.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Indus_Plus.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Misplaced Pages:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Misplaced Pages:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 02:12, 20 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 02:12, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:PTV 1.jpg

Thank you for uploading Image:PTV 1.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Misplaced Pages:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Misplaced Pages:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 16:28, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Beauties and PR

If you were lucky enough to watch that episode on Nadia Khan's show on Geo TV where Sonia Ahmed and Mahleej Sarkari were invited, you'd know that the Miss Pakistan World pageant is really the hype. At least, when it comes to controversies, the organiser know where to bring the PR campaign. Their serious POV edits which have been proven to be made by the organisers and associates of the pageant are under debate at the article's deletion debate.

Follow-up on the last issue

In the last issue, we discussed about the sectarian issues that Pakistani articles were prone to. For an update, an advocate of the Shi'a faith and its prominent inclusion into the articles, LahoreKid has been banned for an indefinite period. In the process, a citation review project page was created for providing editors with a third-opinion on vague references.

For a in-depth coverage, read the talks here. Some news issues will be addressed shortly and new activities like contests and quizzes would be announced shortly as well.

Talking of sects...

I don't want to sound like a separatist, if I say that for the past few weeks the highest number of edits on anything related to Pakistan have been on articles that concerned Baluchistan. From major editions to the article on Quetta to the 1935 Balochistan earthquake tragedy.

In other news: It is now important for editors to look into the logistics section for gaining or providing support for various things in the article such as graphics or copy-editing. So, if you need copy-editing of an article, or your article lacks a picture, please consult at this page.
