Keyshia Cole (born in Oakland, California) is an American R&B singer and songwriter. Growing up in the streets of Oakland, Cole knew from childhood that she wanted to become a musician. In 2004, she appeared on the track "Never" from the Barbershop 2 soundtrack with Eve. Cole released her debut album, The Way It Is, under Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music label, on June 21, 2005.
