User:RepublicanJacobite/Userboxes BackgroundI am an American science fiction writer of Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Flemish, Alsatian, Bavarian, Cajun, and Cherokee descent. I have lived and/or traveled all over the United States and Canada, from Chicago to New Orleans, Boston to San Francisco, New York City to Los Angeles, Toronto to Eugene, Oregon. I currently live in Bloomington, Indiana. Eventually, I would like to settle in either New Orleans (probably in Algiers) or somewhere in the southwest of Ireland (probably in County Kerry), both of which are near the top of my list of favorite places in the world. InterestsMy areas of study and interest are quite diverse (many, though not all, of them can be seen in the userboxes to the right), and my hope and intention (time permitting) is to contribute to a great many articles on these topics. "...these are a few of my favorite things..."ProjectsDecentralismI began work on a Decentralism article, which will detail the history of the political philosophy of devolution, secession, community and regional empowerment, etc., advocated by E. F. Schumacher, Leopold Kohr, Ivan Illich, Lewis Mumford, Ralph Borsodi et al. At some point, articles are needed on other important 20th century American decentralists: Bob Swann and Mildred Loomis (both of whom were students and associates of Borsodi, Loomis later taking over The School of Living), as well as C. George Benello and Susan Witt (currently Executive Director of the E. F. Schumacher Society). Likewise, the article about Herbert Agar is a stub, and talks only of his work as a journalist, saying nothing of him as an agrarian and decentralist. The Gene Logsdon article is also in need of a lot of work. The articles about Colin Ward, George Woodcock, and Kenneth Rexroth, need a lot of work, including expansion and referencing. I moved "back to the land" to back-to-the-land movement, which makes more sense to me. But, it still needs work. Related articles that I have worked on include self-sufficiency, simple living, and sustainable living. Looking at the Second Vermont Republic article, I see that there is no article about John McClaughry, or the book he authored with Frank Bryan, The Vermont Papers: Recreating Democracy on a Human Scale. That is something I should address at some point in the future. Some related work needs to be done in the Regionalism (politics) article, which is currently little more than a stub. One thing the article needs is a listing of important books on the subject. This would include two books by Mike Zwerin: Devolutionary Notes and A Case For The Balkanization Of Practically Everybody. This would also involve an expansion of the Zwerin article to reflect his work as an author. Other projects
