The Lavender Heights District is a centrally located community in Midtown Sacramento. Notably considered to be one of the most progressive neighborhoods in Sacramento, the Lavender Heights is the residential and commercial hub of Sacramento's gay and lesbian community. Most of the gay bars in Sacramento are located in the Lavender Heights area. The LGBT community center, Sacramento Gay & Lesbian Center aka "Lambda Community Center" is also based in this neighborhood.

Popular nightlife destinations located within Lavender Heights include: Faces, Badlands, The Depot, Club 21, The Mercantile, and Head Hunters. Other gay friendly establishment located within or near Lavender Heights include Butch N Nellie's Coffee Company, Something Fabulous Gift Store, and The Sacramento Gay & Lesbian Center.
