He was signed by the Oakland Athletics as an amateur free agent in 1994. He pitched there until he was traded to the Texas Rangers, who traded him to the Milwaukee Brewers where he played until 2004. He came to the White Sox as part of the Scott Podsednik for Carlos Lee trade. In 2005 he was traded to Arizona.
