Michael Mitchell links

Hi - I just wanted to touch base with you about the website links that you've been inserting at Terri Schiavo case. I've removed them a couple of times. I have a few concerns about their suitability for this particular venue. Firstly, we try to base our articles on Misplaced Pages:Independent sources, reliable third-party published sources wherever possible. If you take a look at the Schiavo article, you'll see that most or all of the sources there fit this definition (major media coverage, high-profile books from large publishing houses, statements from recognized expert bodies, etc). Self-published or personal websites generally aren't the best sources for encyclopedic articles, and books should be used carefully - we usually look for more than just an ISBN to confirm that a book on a topic is notable enough to be used as a source. Especially given the large volume of prominent sources available on the Schiavo case, the bar is fairly high.

Secondly, it appears that you may be associated with the website/book which you are linking (please correct me if I'm wrong). Misplaced Pages generally frowns on inserting links and references to sites or products with which one is directly affiliated; see our conflict of interest guideline for more information. Please tell me you haven't responded to this note by reinserting the same links using the IP 207.63.16.67 (talk). MastCell  20:04, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
