"Hot Dogs (Veronica Mars)"

"Hot Dogs" is episode 19 of season 1 of the television show Veronica Mars.

Plot

The episode centres around a previously unknown Neptune student, Mandy, having had her dog stolen. Veronica investigates the case, which she initially believes to be dog-napping.

Eli ‘Weevil’ Navarro breaks into Lilly Kane’s former room to take something from it.

Logan asks Veronica for help in finding the identity of his sister Trina’s boyfriend, who appears to have abused her. It transpires that he will be coming for dinner at the Echolls house. When Veronica and Logan arrive there in order to confront him, they find that Aaron Echolls is savagely beating him.

Logan and Veronica kiss and express their affection for each other. This prompts Veronica to end her relationship with Deputy Leo, in order to concentrate on Logan.

Arc significance

  • Weevil breaks into Lilly's room and steals a pink "spy pen" that Lilly used to hold secret messages. He gives it back to Veronica, but it's empty
  • Keith discreetly takes hair samples from Veronica in order to test her DNA in relation to his
  • Aaron's violent nature is highlighted
  • Logan's claims of being abused by his father as a child are made more likely by Aaron's behaviour
