The following system of transliteration of Russian into English is currently endorsed by the Misplaced Pages naming conventions policy. This naming policy is active, but currently under revision at Misplaced Pages:Naming conventions (Cyrillic).

The following table describes a method to derive the most common informal transcriptions of Russian names into the Latin alphabet, suitable for English-speakers. It is a modification of BGN/PCGN transliteration, with several exceptions.
