Some of these conflicts were pontual, while others lasted for many years. Most of these conflicts were in the Indian Ocean, in the process of the expansion of the Portuguese Empire. Regarding the nature of these conflicts from the Portuguese perspective, see note under discussion.
The different conflicts were the following:
- Turkish Crusade (1481)
- Battle of Diu (1509)
- Conquest of Goa (1510)
- Conquest of Tunis (1535)
- Turkish–Portuguese Conflicts (1538–1557)
- Turkish–Portuguese Conflicts (1558–1563)
- Battle of Alcácer Quibir (1578)
- Turkish–Portuguese Conflicts (1580–1589)
- Turkish-Venetian War (1714–1718)
