Dr Judith Curry is an American Scientist currently working for the Georgia Institute of Technology.
She specializes in Hurricane Research and Atmospheric Sciences
In 1974 she received a B.S. cum laude from Northern Illinois University in Geography, and received her Ph.D. in Geophysical Sciences from the University of Chicago in 1982.
Career
One aspect of her recent research is on possible connections between hurricane intensity and global warming.
Dr Curry has both co-authored and written several books related to her field and numerous papers which are available online
Views on Climate Change
After the " Climategate Controversy" she wrote that Climatologists should be more transparent in their dealings with the public saying, "This whole concept of, ‘We’re the experts, trust us,’ has clearly gone by the wayside with these e-mails"
She has posted an open letter on Watts Up With That a blog run by Anthony Watts and also on Climate Audit called "On the Credibility of Climate Change, Towards Rebuilding Trust" In it she mentioned the benefits of blog-led debate, called for greater transparency in scientists’ work.
She has also commented that the scientists motives were "indicative of “circle the wagons/point guns outward” mentality which uses “ad hominem/appeal to motive attacks; appeal to authority; isolate the enemy through lack of access to data; peer review process”".
