This is a summary of the history of the page User:Benapgar/Bullying

Benapgar creates initial version on Jan 17, 2005. The page is clearly in User space, is clearly a petition, and begins with a paragraph that makes a clear request that edits be discussed on the talk page.

This is a petition I am going to send to Jimbo Wales, owner of Misplaced Pages. If you have any changes you want to suggest, discuss them on the discussion page. I will definitely consider things anyone wants to add or change--especially if you do not want to sign it for one reason or another, but it is my petition. If people edit it to their liking then maybe I won't want to sign it and then there won't be much point in me making a petition anymore :P. So, please discuss on the talk page.

Nonetheless,

  • the next edit, which appeared shortly thereafter, is made without comment in the talk page, and is disparaging of Benapgar and of the petition.
  • The disparaging edit is removed, but
  • a new edit disparaging the petition is made, again without discussion on talk.
  • That edit is also removed.
  • a third edit is made, again with no discussion on talk page, purporting to be an "outside view". This is not a Request for Comment, but a petition, which exists in User space, containing a specific request that edits be discussed on talk page first. The "outside view" contains arguments against the author of the petition:
"Much of Benapgar' frustration and venting against admins here is the result of his repeated issues arising from apparent inability to abide by WP:CIVIL and WP:NPA as documented in his recent user conduct RFC"
  • a number of editors begin adding signatures to this "outside view" ,
  • Next, an editor adds his signature in support of the petition. The comments with the signature identify a particular editor, not among those already actively editting this page as a bully.
  • The mentioned editor responds by adding a comment critical of the editor who so accused him of bullying.
  • New signatures, , , are added to the "outside view".
"The outside view FeloniousMonk has provided is irrelevant to the content of this petition and the characterizations within are distortions and insubtantive allegations."
  • These changes are reverted without discussion on the talk page by one of the signatories to the "outside view".
  • Also, the comment by the supporter of the petition identifying a particular user as a bully is removed, and a comment left at that supporter's talk page explaining the motivation for the removal:
I removed the part of your comment that was about another user. The petition needs to be kept impersonal. If you're ok with the edit you can take off the little note I put next to it. I know it's tempting to air your grievances there, but it's not going to help you or the petition, and will probably just cause (correction--already has caused :P) fighting. --Ben 22:38, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
  • A revert is a again made by a non-supporter of the petition, restoring the "outside view" and the comment referring to a specific user as a bully.
  • Again, an opponent of the petition restores the items, without discussion on the talk page, but with the edit summary:
You solicited comments at RFC . You should then allow community comments
  • A view of link shows that the user was soliciting support for a petition, and did not solicit comments in general:
User:Benapgar/Bullying This is a petition I am sending to Mr. Wales regarding bullying on Misplaced Pages in general.
  • Revert warring continues.
