Announcements

Kven

For quite a long time 1-2 editors write the Kven article, which basically claims that Kvens/Cwens permeated whole Northern Europe.. I have reasons to believe that it is original reasearch and POV-pushing. I periodically delete some really abnormal claims related to countries outside Scandinavia. Unfortunately I don't have enough knowledge of Northern European history and not a single expert with second opinion editis this article. Please help. mikka (t) 20:36, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

Possible candidates for deletion

  • Furbo , a village that does not establish notability. Fred-Chess 18:50, 22 September 2005 (UTC)
  • Bjärv , a folk musical group
  • Leifi, no context, probably not notable? / Alarm 23:15, 28 September 2005 (UTC)
  • Kristian Walker, Tsunami victim who posthumously was the center of a tabloid news story based on a rumour that soon turned out to be false. I'd say he's not notable, filing this under "Misplaced Pages is not a memorial" as per September 11 precedent, but I'd like to hear other's views before listing it. / Alarm 23:25, 7 October 2005 (UTC)
    • Personally, I feel that this victim is perhaps a little more notable than other victims of the tsunami, due to the additional press coverage. I remember this case making headlines here in the UK, including BBC coverage. Also, I note that the tone of the entry isn't particularly gushing - sometimes, this type of article uses language such as "beautiful child", "innocent victim", "appalling tragedy", etc. However, on the other hand, I'm sure that many, many more of the victims of the tsunami had unique circumstances which people would say makes them notable, and many of them made headlines in their own right (although perhaps not to the same international extent), so I doubt that I would actively oppose a proposal for deletion. Current Projects

  • Anti-Stubs. Many short articles on minor Swedish topics have a stub tag, despite not being easily expanded upon, and thus not qualifying as Misplaced Pages:Stubs. To make it easier for those wanting to expand true stubs, these articles should be turned into {{notstub}}. Also add a commented out explanation why it is not a stub. // Fred-Chess 11:43, 30 October 2005 (UTC)
  • Wikireaders. After German influences, we have decided to initiate a English "WikiReader Sweden". This WikiReader should be able to be printed and published. The WikiReader is distributed as pdf files, and unlike wikipedia articles they extensively cover its subject: in our case Sweden. A first attempt WikiReader currently only including Stockholm, looks like this: Image:Stockholm Wikireader first draft.pdf. Comments and critique should be made at our talk page. // Fred-Chess 13:19, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

Stub messages

Consider tagging very short Sweden-related articles, with a Sweden designated stub tag. For general Sweden-stubs, write this {{sweden-stub}} at the bottom of the article. (All such articles are listed in Category:Sweden stubs)

Several subcategories exist:

In addition, external links to webpages that are only in the Swedish language, can be marked by a template called template:sv icon, inserted by typing {{sv icon}} in front of the link (displaying this image Template:Sv icon).
