Revision as of 08:05, 19 February 2006 by Mostssa (talk | contribs)(diff) ← Previous revision | Latest revision (diff) | Newer revision → (diff)Tourism in Croatia is a well-developed industry as Croatia is an attractive tourist destination, particularly its extensive coastline. Several companies run flotillas of yachts along different stretches of the coastline, which is also popular with divers.
The interior of the country, with the exception of the capital Zagreb, has fewer tourist attractions. Eight areas in the country have been designated national parks, and the landscape in these areas is afforded extra protection from development.
Tourist attractions in Croatia include:
- Zagreb;
- the Kornati National Park;
- the fortified city of Dubrovnik;
- the Krka waterfalls, part of the Krka National Park; and
- the Plitvice Lakes.
- Varazdin town (ex-capital of Croatia)
Safety Issues
There is a serious problem of unexploded land mines in several parts of Croatia. Several goverments, like that of Australia, warn the tourists who consider visiting this Country of this problem. The mines in Croatia are perhaps the most serious safety issue, though there are some other (like mobs attacking busses from former Yugoslavia, gangs stealing cars on the roads asking for hoax help etc.)
