In 1990, Lanix began making semiconductors, and light-emitting diodes (LED). By 1994, it had moved to more advanced systems such as designing and producing computers and memory systems. In 1995, Lanix released its first computer, named PC 286, which was sold in Mexico and was the first personal computer made in large numbers by a domestic firm that saw widespread sales. Lanix products are assembled in Mexico and Chile.

At the 2009 Intel Solutions Summit hosted by Intel, Lanix won an award in the "mobile solution" category.

In March 2011, Lanix began offering a system where buyers can custom build their own computer from the bottom up, choosing different types of chipsets, memory systems, and other components.

Products

As of 2011, Lanix sells computers (desktops, laptops, and servers), computer monitors, optical drives, hard disk drives, and smartphones.

Starting in 2010 America Movil, the fourth largest telecom company in the world, began selling Lanix smartphones through it's Telcel branch.

In 2010, Lanix unveiled the Lanix W-10, a tablet computer running Windows 7. An Android version will be available through Telcel.
