Christina Cuenca, Miss Louisiana USA 2006

Christina Cuenca is a beauty queen who has held the title Miss Louisiana USA and competed at Miss USA.

Cuenca, who comes from Arabi, Louisiana is an experienced pageant veteren who competed in five previous pageants before winning the crown. Cuenca first appeared on the Louisiana pageant stage in 1999, when she failed to place. She returned the following year for the Miss Louisiana USA 2001 pageant, where she placed second runner-up. After taking a year off in 2002, Cuenca returned and equalled her second runner-up placement in the 2003 and 2004 pageants, but was demoted in 2005 when she only made the top ten. Cuenca returned for her final chance at the title in the 2006 pageant, which was due to be held in Lafayette in November 2005 but was postponed until January 2006 due to the effects of Hurricane Katrina on her state.

Cuenca won the title Miss Lousiana USA 2006 in her final attempt, and was crowned by Candice Stewart of Metairie. As a survivor of Hurricane Katrina, Cuenca has been involved as a volunteer in the rebuilding efforts in New Orleans. She had the opportunity of appearing in a Miss USA special episdode of Deal or No Deal that was taped in Los Angeles, California in March 2006 and broadcast the week of the Miss USA pageant preliminaries in April.

Cuenca represented her state in the nationally televised Miss USA 2006 pageant broadcast live from Baltimore, Maryland on 11 April 2006. Despite being widely favourite by pageant fans on the Voy message boards, Cuenca failed to make the semi-finals. The pageant was won by Tara Conner of Kentucky.

Having graduated from Archbishop Hannan High School in 1997, Cuenca completed a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and Broadcast Journalism from Louisiana State University in 2004. She is currently working as an actress and model and is active with Shine Productions, a theatrical group in St Bernard. Her work as a model has taken her to Thailand, Germany and Italy.

Cuenca's hobbies and interests include ballroom dancing, pilates yoga, cajun cooking, going to Saints football games and travelling abroad.
