This is a list of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in India, based on the central list maintained by the National Commission for Backward Classes. It does not reflect the state lists, which can differ significantly. The OBCs are disadvantaged groups that are officially identified. Classification in and out, over time, changes. This list includes, with documentation, notable OBCs that have been identified at one time or another.
It must be noted that a community identified as a nationally-recognized OBC in this list, may be so recognized only in some Indian states, and that the same community in other Indian states is not deemed an OBC.
OBCs
The current list of centrally recognized OBC's is maintained by the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC).
