Marketing
The first look of Bade Acche Lagte Hain and short promos were aired on Sony TV in early March 2011. Also the online promos were too launched. The show's trailer on YouTube got over 500,00 hits in one day. Meanwhile, the other promos were also aired on various other channels like on Sony Max during IPL 4. This caught the great eyeballs of the audience. As the promos were refreshing and new with a rare couple, it grabbed more eyeballs. Since the show was about a middle aged couple and love after marriage, a time when social backdrop and other issues were taken up by the channels and producers and converted in soaps, the producers and channel took a bold step to show something different. The premiere of the show was made in Agra in the presence of yesteryear star Jeetendra.
Reception
Response
—Chahat Khanna (who plays Ayesha) on the five-year leap of the showIt's sure that Bade Achhe Lagte Hain is going to take a leap. However, Ekta will announce this to the media holding a proper press conference. It will be a huge progression for the show, and you can tell it as a re-launch...
Bade Achhe Lagte Hain was very well received by the audience because of its mature love story and also because of the superb chemistry between its leads. It was declared a "Hit" by many news channels, newspapers, forums and blogs. Co-producer and creator Ekta Kapoor said: "When we started Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, the plan was to run it for only 150 episodes. But fortunately, the show has done well. Now the challenge is: how to take the storyline forward and maintain the freshness?"
The show became one of the most watched show of 2011 and has also made Sony Entertainment Television India number 2 GEC.
Bade Achhe Lagte Hain was also dubbed in Telugu and started to air on Gemini TV from April 9, 2012 as Nuvvu Nachhav or Nuvvu Nachhavu. However, it suddenly went off-air on August 31, 2012 leaving behind an incomplete story, covering only about some 205 episodes.
The plot saw quite a bit of changes and touched new dimensions altogether a few months before the five year leap. And to maintain the freshness of the show and the very good TRPs Ekta Kapoor had to introduce the five-year leap. Post leap, Samir Kochhar plays the role of Rajat Kapur, the parallel male protagonist in the show and the story also took a complete different turn. Post leap some 36 episodes (Episode 102-117) was shot in Dubai. The leap was not well received by majority of the people. Ekta was also told to have received hate mails. She said: "My inbox has also been jammed. Honestly speaking, hate mail can get quite unnerving at times." She even considered taking a six-month season break but she said: "But in India, unlike the West, we don’t have such a structure. Plus, we can’t keep making it dramatic with day-to-day happenings."
