Arbitration enforcement warning: Manual of Style and article titles policy

File:Yes
The Arbitration Committee has permitted administrators to impose discretionary sanctions (information on which is at Misplaced Pages:Arbitration Committee/Discretionary sanctions) on any editor who is active on pages broadly related to the English Misplaced Pages Manual of Style and article titles policy. Discretionary sanctions can be used against an editor who repeatedly or seriously fails to adhere to the purpose of Misplaced Pages, satisfy any standard of behavior, or follow any normal editorial process. If you continue to misconduct yourself on pages relating to this topic, you may be placed under sanctions, which can include blocks, a revert limitation, or an article ban. The Committee's full decision can be read at the "Final decision" section of the decision page.

Please familiarise yourself with the information page at Misplaced Pages:Arbitration Committee/Discretionary sanctions, with the appropriate sections of Misplaced Pages:Arbitration Committee/Procedures, and with the case decision page before making any further edits to the pages in question. This notice is given by an uninvolved administrator and will be logged on the case decision, pursuant to the conditions of the Arbitration Committee's discretionary sanctions system.

This warning is made as a result of the arbitration enforcement request made on 27 January 2013 concerning you. Please take care, in future disputes concerning the issues mentioned above, to comment on content and not on other contributors, as directed by WP:NPA and related Misplaced Pages conduct rules. Regards,  Sandstein  21:08, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

Leaving Misplaced Pages, as promised

Sandstein:

I will of course be leaving Misplaced Pages forever, as promised. It is not a matter of great concern for me; I was quite ready for such an outcome the moment I realised you had taken it on yourself to deal with such cases. O yes, I can remember!

Shortly I will be arranging an orderly departure. There are a few areas in which I want to complete some contributions. Let me just say: I am dismayed, though not surprised, at your attempting to suppress legitimate contributions supporting me, in an action brought by Apteva (who is now under a topic ban and a block). You were silent about another commenter, who had come perilously close to a block and a ban himself. He had attracted a stern warning from bureaucrat MBisanz for the battle plan he had drawn up at Apteva's talkpage, which he noisily pursued in this AE action. So note: the only reason I might stay for a little while is to assist Ohconfucius, Neotarf, and SMcCandlish in an ArbCom case, if any two of them ask me to do so. The actions, biases, and involvements (present and past) of the following admins would need scrutiny:

  • KillerChihuahua
  • Cailil
  • SarekOfVulcan
  • Sandstein

And the actions of these other editors cry out for more attention, beyond what has been done in warnings, at Misplaced Pages:Requests for comment/Apteva, at WP:AE, and at WP:AN:

  • Wikid77
  • Apteva

But you see, to me it all looks like a passing Mardi Gras pageant, or a lobster quadrille. Fantastic names, costumes, and posturings – none of which will mean anything to me soon. So much else to do!

Best wishes,

Dealing with a most unwelcome intrusion, in my final days on Misplaced Pages
As a frequent target of your comments about contributors that are supposed to be about content, I hope you reconsider after realizing the appropriateness of the warning so that WP can continue to benefit from your positive contributions, minus the snide comments and such. --Born2cycle (talk) 04:02, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
B2C, I will reply with equanimity now that I have overcome an unpleasant visceral reaction to your presence here at my talkpage. Note:
  • I will not change my mind. I have integrity, and I will not stay to have it impugned by those lacking insight into their own lapses from integrity.
  • You are the last editor I would listen to concerning warnings and personal insight. Your response, when you and sockmaster PMAnderson were singled out for special mention in the outcome of an ArbCom case? From your talkpage:

4. Born2cycle is warned that his contributions to discussion must reflect a better receptiveness to compromise and a higher tolerance for the views of other editors.
...
I have no idea what to do with this (4) but ignore it. You might as well warn Lance Armstrong to learn to ride his bike faster.
I've never been anything but highly receptive to compromise; if anything my efforts to find and build compromise is why I post so much, which is a problem.
I've always always been very tolerant of the views of others. There was no evidence in this case to the contrary, and, AFAIK, none exists.
This whole case was riddled with elements that make no sense like this. What a waste of everyone's time. Very disappointing.
When this process started I had nothing but respect for Arbcom. As a result of their shoddy work, all that is lost. What a shame. --Born2cycle (talk) 23:42, 23 March 2012 (UTC)

It is not my business to counsel you about choice of associations or role models; but I will observe that you have made other unfortunate choices beyond a famous drug cheat who betrayed his community's trust.
  • I note that editors have been exasperated by your persistence in pursuing an agenda regardless of other opinions, in for example this RFC. Again, it is not my business to counsel you; but you give little evidence of heeding the ArbCom warning, and plenty of evidence of ignoring it as you explicitly proposed to do.
  • I invite you to contrast our different attitudes when warned: I am leaving in a few days; you are staying and not changing your behaviour. Nothing can delay my departure, with one exception: a request for help from those fellow Wikipedians caught up in the recent travesty of honest dealing at WP:AE.
  • I invite you to stay away from my talkpage, because in my experience conversation between us has been futile and without any redeeming characteristics whatsoever.

Sandstein's misunderstanding of the AE issues and consequent bogus warning

You'll probably want to read and weigh in on User talk:SMcCandlish#Arbitration enforcement warning: Manual of Style and article titles policy, especially the second round, after Sandstein made it clear that he did not even know about the AN filing that led up to the AE request, and is thus missing almost all of the facts, background, context and history. The "you can now be blocked without further notice by anyone with a hare up their butt" warning we received was unfounded, unjust and invalid, and I'm not going to stand for being treated like a wikicriminal this way. I've devoted unbelievable amounts of time and effort to this project and I'll be damned if I'll be lynched for it. — SMcCandlish  Talk⇒ ɖכþ Contrib. 12:48, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

PS: Note that User:Neotarf just resigned editing over the matter, and I think you'd indicated, before this pointless boot dropped, a willingness to do so as well. I now rescind my criticism of you for taking that position. — SMcCandlish  Talk⇒ ɖכþ Contrib. 12:54, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

Sure! Make no mistake: I'm leaving, for good. See above. The only reason I will stay on for a while is to support any ArbCom action by you, Ohconfucius, or Neotarf. That's what it would take to overturn the warnings issued to you three, and to deal with the abuses by admins listed above.
Just let me know what you intend. Meanwhile, I'll continue my process of disengaging gracefully from Misplaced Pages. Busy in the real world, so it might take a few days.
