Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Bobby_and_Jemima
http://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Bobby_and_Jemima
Gosh I'm finding Misplaced Pages confusing! Not being that experienced technically it's all a bit mind boggling! I've submitted my first article and it has been declined a couple of times. Now the problem seems to be in the format of writing, that it's not neutral enough. I have really tried to do that but wonder if anyone can help me identify the phrases that are causing the problem. Thank you Kelly LiebermanKellylieberman (talk) 05:26, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
- At first glance I can see a major problem - your draft contains material for three separate articles - one about the group and two biographies. If you're writing about the band that's what you should write about - detailed biographies of of each of the members should be separate articles. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 09:47, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Why my article is not selected?
Why my article is not selected?
- You have to give us a bit more information - what draft are you talking about? The link in the heading should be to the actual page - "Why my article is not selected?" is not the title of a current draft. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 09:51, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
- The draft is Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Swami Shree Haridas Ji. As the reviewer explained, it was rejected because firstly it does not cite any reliable sources that are independent of the subject, such as newspaper articles or peer-reviewed scholarly papers, and secondly the tone is hardly neutral and it uses peacock terms - in short, it reads like something written by an adoring follower, not like a neutral summary of the facts. Getting editors to fix articles
Yeah, I'm kind of new to this project, and I was wondering, well, you're allowed to ask the creator to improve things in the article during your review, right? Thanks! -- Numbermaniac (C) 06:33, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
- Sure you are, though if it's just minor issues such as style edits, those should not be grounds for declining the submission. Huon (talk) 12:16, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi,
I don't know how to get the collum on the right hand side of wikipedia on my article. It mostly has a picture followed by some information. if the article is about a song it will mostly have a picture of the album cover and under it the name of the album/genre/year etc. how do I get a collum like that on my own page?

Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/ISATT, The International Study Association on Teachers and Teaching
need some help editing this
- Could you please elaborate? What kind of help do you need? Regarding the tone issue for which the draft was declined, I'd say it focuses much too heavily on the ISATT's dreams, mission and vision and far too little on the hard facts of who they are and what they do. In short, it reads more like a storyteller's tale than an encyclopedia article. Huon (talk) 01:33, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Ralf Köttker
] Hello, first of all sorry for my bad english. I'm not a native speaker so be patient, please. I don't understand the reason why the article (Ralf Köttker) is rejected. All Informations mentioned in the text are based on the source i've given. Is it necessary to have english sources? The article is also available on german, seen here: http://de.wikipedia.org/Ralf_K%C3%B6ttker Cr0kesselhaus (talk) 07:31, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
- It is not necessary to have English sources. It is necessary to have independent sources. The employer of a person are not independent of that person. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 08:55, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
Ok, thank you for your response. So if I find other sources, like newspapers and stuff, it might be good enough? Cr0kesselhaus (talk) 12:01, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, if multiple newspapers discuss the person in significant detail, then it is very likely that he is notable by English Misplaced Pages standards. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 12:17, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

hi there question may be qualified as a stupid, however i do struggle with footnotes, it doesn't seem to be saved as i intended, so my question is: to edit my article that has been rejected (because of the footnotes) do i start to write it again? it doesn't seem to have option edit any more :/
- Click on edit source to edit the submission including footnotes. I have removed the current version as you have copied it from the subject's website and mission statement. This is not allowed on Misplaced Pages. If you own the copyright to the material in question, read WP:DCM. If not, please fundamentally rewrite the text in your own words and from a neutral point of view. Pol430 talk to me 18:53, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/ThrillMe
Dear Wiki
After waiting for over a month, I have now had this article rejected twice and I am becoming a little confused. Could someone please give me clear guidelines on where it is falling short? My first gatekeeper told me that some of the article was too colloquial and gave me examples which I corrected. These had originally been quotes which I had paraphrased but this had not been made clear so I altered or deleted them.
This time round I have a different gatekeeper and s/he is still unhappy but I dont know why. The comment below is too vague to be helpful. The website/technology I am describing is a brand new content discovery service using facial coding technology in an entirely new way and so is of interest to people working in this field. If the concern is that it is part of a business, I have used as my template all the other businesses listed on wikipedia working in similar fields, such as Flooved, Valve and Rotten Tomatoes. If Flooved is acceptable I am baffled as to why my own piece is not. Flooved is just a list of founders and partners with a brief summary of what they do. By Wiki's terms and conditions, it is a blatant advertisement.
Also, this reviewer appears to misunderstand the nature of my quotation as they come from a variety of reliable, independent journalistic sources, including France, UK, online business site and Israel reporting on their experiences of the website at its launch. None of them has been generated by the creator of the subject and it is insulting to suggest this is the case when they are so clearly documented and verifiable.
"This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Misplaced Pages's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Misplaced Pages, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies."
Many thanks for any advice or help you can offer,
Nigel Matador45 (talk) 14:54, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
- Hello Nigel, the message you quoted above is a templated one. Due to the huge number of submissions Misplaced Pages receives it is necessary to use 'canned' decline reasons. Because of this some parts of the message may not apply to every submission. The two problems I see is that the tone of parts of the submission are not quite right for an encyclopaedia. The origins section in particular opens with sentence that's like something the marketing department came up with for their sales pitch and contains WP:SYNTH of the cited sources. Also, "The launch of ThrillMe at Cannes-based MIPCube garnered considerable press interest." needs backing up with citations to said press interest. The second problem I find is the lack of in-depth direct coverage of the subject in well known independent sources. There are a couple of good sources there, but there is also passing mention sources and blogs which do not lend any weight the the subject's notability. Pol430 talk to me 19:19, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
Review of Misplaced Pages:Articles_for_creation/Redirects#Redirect_request:_Robert_shea
Why was this redirect request declined? Links to Robert shea are redlinks, and this applies also to links from other sites. I don't see a reason for this not to exist, and the placeholder that appears for a redlink specifically says to create redirects for different cases. 109.64.138.111 (talk) 17:25, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
- What links to Robert shea? According to Special:WhatLinksHere/Robert_shea, there are no incoming links to that page, so a redirect is not necessary, and since the mediawiki software already corrects for capitals in searches, again it's not necessary. All I can suggest is that if you're trying to add a link to Robert shea, that you add it with his name spelt correctly. - Happysailor 17:59, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
- I've seen links from external websites, IRC bots, et cetera. I don't understand what reason there might be not to do this. Might the page Robert shea be needed at some point for something? Does it cost anything to add a redirect? 93.172.25.165 (talk) 21:41, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Lana Roi
hi how can I add article I follow all the rule. please help me thanks
- No, you didn't follow all the rules. You have some "references", but they don't support the article's content. For example, none of your sources mentions "Filipino and German descent" or "vocal training for classical music". Misplaced Pages is not a reliable source to begin with. Conversely, the one event the sources all cover, her being booted from Miss Philippines 2013, isn't mentioned in the article at all. This leads us to the next problem: If that one event is all Roi is notable for (and the sources suggest it is), we shouldn't have an article on her at all but cover the event in the relevant article, here Binibining Pilipinas 2013. See WP:BLP1E for the relevant guideline. Huon (talk) 00:29, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Royal Azel
Hello,
I am responding to the denial of the submission. In most libraries, when purchasing a book on gems or gemological information Royal Azel is noted and indicated.
I reviewed many articles that have encyclopedic value on Misplaced Pages. In the world of minerals and the associated gemstones, there are recognized names such as Tanzanite that are commonly used and their inclusion in wikipedia has immense value to the public. Mainly because the world of minerals and gemstones has so much misinformation, let alone commercial fraud.
The intent of the submission was to help provide the same facts as the wiki article on tanzanite. More importantly was I was using the historical information from the highly accredited Gemological Institute of America and the fact that the National Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC, in their natural history museum, Hall of Gems, identifies the mineral as Royal Azel, with the subtitle sugilite, in the same manner as Tanzanite with the subtitle zoisite, a base mineral name.
I suppose that when the many visitors to the Smithsonian Museum see this "Royal Azel" display, they might wonder, Hey let me look it up on Wiki pedia. I decided to submit the factual history related to Royal Azel as it relates to sugilite in the same manner the Tanzanite article does.
I would like to correct any errors that may exist. I tried to do my best not to make a "value statement" about Royal Azel or sugilite in the article.
Simply History and why it is in the smithsonian museum, by this name. What would I need to do to keep in alignment with wikipedia's other excellent article on Tanzanite? Thank you for your time on my communication Nextedit (talk) 19:16, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
- Funny how the Smithsonian link you gave doesn't mention the term "Royal Azel". My suggestion would be to include the most relevant information - that "Royal Azel" was a failed attempt to commercialize Sugilite as a gemstone - in the main Sugilite article, say in a section on commercial use, and to redirect Royal Azel thereto. The trademark is not independently notable. Huon (talk) 00:29, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

Seemingly invalid rejection reason for Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Gangoobai film
I have submitted an article for creation here, i notice the article has been rejected initially for notability references - after that I had added two citations specifically from pretty notable newpapers, the article has been again rejected for the same reason now. I am not finding this to be valid review by the reviewer group. I want a third eye to look into this article again. For reference this is the link to the version at which it was rejected the second time. (though other editors have tried to add links after that, but I want to show that the state at which the article was rejected was atleast not for the correct reason) A m i t ❤ 02:22, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
- Accepted Pol430 talk to me 08:58, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
- The article has now been accepted. Looking at the previous reviews of it based upon the state of the article when reviewed, the most recent rejection was perhaps rather harsh, but not entirely unreasonable; the Times of India is a thoroughly respectable source, IMDB is not a reliable source, and only two other sources are listed, one of which I have not heard of (but may be reliable) and one of which is only a preview. So perhaps it should have been accepted at that time, but I don't think this was an especially awful review. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 09:01, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Jess Michaels
Hi,
I'm confused as to why my page was deleted. This is for an author that has written 40+ books for major publishers like Harper Collins, Simon and Schuster, and Hachete. At first it was rejected - saying it needed more sources - so I tried to add links I found to the publisher pages and to Amazon.
What is missing from this? It's not spam - and not intended to be spam in any way. Do we need to remove links or change them? There are 249,000+ results for Jess Michaels and her books if you search on Google.
Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Jess Michaels 19:28, 4 July 2013 RHaworth (talk | contribs) deleted page Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Jess Michaels (nn-bio / spam)
Thank You,
Fredsbro Fredsbro (talk) 08:25, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
- I can't view the deleted page, but I will ask RHaworth to comment here.
- I will say that adding links to "publisher pages" and Amazon is not useful in proving the notability of an author, because neither Amazon nor the publisher are independent of the author. Amazon and the publisher both exist to sell the author's books. Instead, what you would need, at the least, is independent reliable sources that review the author's work in detail. For example, reviews of reasonable length in The Times, the New York Times, The Guardian or similar. An article in an independent reliable source about the author (not just about one of his books) would be even better.
- The number of books a person has written, or the number of Google results for their name, are not good ways to measure notability by Misplaced Pages's standards. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 08:43, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
Thanks Arthur goes shopping! I was just reviewing the notability document and would have no problem adding links to reviews, awards, and other info. The links I used (to the author page on Amazon and publisher sites), I was intending to show where I found information about the author (bio) and books released. Is that the right kind of source for that kind of information? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fredsbro (talk • contribs)
- OK Fredsbro, come clean - who are the "we" to whom you refer? Your message actually gives a hint to the deletion reason: you say "publisher pages and Amazon". Links to the publisher page are allowed. Links to Amazon are simply not needed. But what you have omitted are links to independent reviews. As to why I deleted, we have been too lax with AfC submissions: spam and copyvio are grounds for speedy in any namespace. In the case of this AfC, the reviewer had declined it as a copyvio from this page. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 09:14, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
Hi RHaworth, I know you deal with spammers every day, I'm not a spammer and not trying to game the system. When I say "Do 'we' need to remove links?" I was referring to the "we" as in the people of Misplaced Pages. If it all possible, can I please get the article back and rework it? I now see that I need to be specific with Misplaced Pages's "notability" for it to be included. I know there was an article in the Washington Post a while back and I can see what other independent sources I can find - plus add literary awards. Fredsbro (talk) 14:45, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
Hi RHaworth, Someone said you could give me a copy of the article text to fix. Could I just get the Bibliography and author info box? Those were not from the Amazon page and would be a real help for rewriting the article. PS, I'd encourage you to feel free to do your own research on this author: Jess Michaels / Jenna Petersen / Jesse Petersen - there are many independent reviews, awards, and bestseller information. Fredsbro (talk) 18:40, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
- You can have the entire text - e-mailed. The only way that you will convince me that you have no COI is when you have built up a solid history of contributions to a variety of articles. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 21:56, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
RHaworth Thank You for sending me the text! I promise, I'll do better! It seems like it's a problem that I'm new and that I'm trying to add an article. I'll do my best to contribute in other ways. Thanks Again! Fredsbro (talk) 00:17, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Secret Society of Happy People
Hello. Can you, please, suggest what I should change in my article in order to make it proper for Misplaced Pages? (Ruzhica (talk) 09:51, 5 July 2013 (UTC))
- The main problem is the tone, style and focus of the submission. It reads like an advertisement or marketing brochure, not like an encyclopedia article. Encyclopedia articles do not say things like "In the Society Online Store you can purchase the Secret Society of Happy People's Thirty-One Types of Happiness Guide". Phrasing like "a fun way to encourage other people to recognize their happiness" and "to enable managers to easily add some happiness in the workplace daily" also seem to be uncritical repetition of marketing claims the group itself makes, rather than presenting actual facts backed by independent reliable sources.
- Take a look at some similar articles in Misplaced Pages:Good articles/Social sciences and society to get a better idea of the sort of tone and presentation that would be appropriate.
- The good news is that your submission does seem to have a wide range of independent reliable sources, so proving notability of the organisation should not be a problem. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 10:09, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

My Trademark Clearinghouse submission has been declined for a second time. It has been stated that the submission's references do not adequately evidence the subject's notability. What have I done wrong? Does that simply mean that more references are required in the article?

Comlaudesarahc (talk) 14:21, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
- I believe this subject is sufficiently notable for Misplaced Pages; however, you need to furnish the submission with references to more independent sources. The subject's own website is fine for establishing basic facts about the subject, but we need references that point to third-party sources. Particularly, we need a good quality reliable source to evidence the outsourcing by ICANN. See WP:RS for more info on identifying reliable sources. Pol430 talk to me 18:59, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Lords of War
Hi - I was working on the page earlier, uploaded some images and can now no longer see them (when viewing on iPad - may be fine on PC). Just enquiring as to why this might be as the material uploaded has no copyright restrictions related to it (as owner of the intellectual property, I can say with sime authority that we be have no legal protections - scary as that might seem - and have made these materials freely available elsewhere (for reviews to third parties, on the Lords of War website, Facebook, etc). Thank you!— Preceding unsigned comment added by BBGLordsofWar (talk • contribs)
- If you own the copyright to, or represent someone who owns the copyright to, particular images, and are able to license those images for use on Misplaced Pages, you can do so following the instructions at WP:CONSENT. Note that most commercial enterprises do not wish to license their images in this way!
- If such licensing is not possible, then you may wish to wait until the article is accepted, at which point there may be a case to use, probably, one image at the top of the article under fair use. (And maybe a few more under certain circumstances.) Let's address that when it happens. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 02:59, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- Those files were deleted from the Wikimedia Commons as copyright violations; see for example Commons:File:Lords of War box contents.jpg. If the copyright holder has indeed released those images under a free license compatible with the CC-BY-SA 3.0 License, or into the public domain, we'd need to see some evidence of that release. The easiest would be to have the copyright holder send a release form; an example form is here, and it should be sent, with a reference to the uploaded files' names at the Commons, to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org - however, I find it very hard to believe that the company would be okay with others re-using their artwork for commercial purposes. Please help me identify the problem on my article and the solutions I could do for its approval. — Preceding unsigned comment added by KyzeM (talk • contribs) 02:45, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- There are a couple of issues. Firstly, most of your sources are not the reliable, independent sources Misplaced Pages content should be based on. Daigdig Pinoy probably is, but none of the others seems to be subject to editorial oversight, and a single good source is not enough to establish that the artist is notable by Misplaced Pages's standards. Are there additional articles about him published in newspapers or reputable arts magazines?
- Secondly, you should use footnotes to clarify which of your sources supports which of the draft's statements. For example, "A fusion of reality and fantasy is a perfect interpretation of his works." - says which source? See WP:Referencing for beginners on how to easily create nicely-formatted footnotes. - Your draft does not cite a single reliable source, making its content unverifiable. Furthermore, you may want to have a look at our guideline on conflicts of interest; writing an autobiography is strongly discouraged. Huon (talk) 03:51, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- Mr Hadid, if you paid a third party to create an artice about you on Misplaced Pages then you should immediately demand a full refund, as no third party can guarantee to do any such thing. We cannot offer legal advice here, but if you should wish to seek legal advice regarding such a refund, the Law Society of New South Wales has a page here that will help you to find a legal representative. Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Cool Aid (Canada)
I rather resent the comment that I did not read the articles that I cited. Nothing could be farther from the truth. I am the author of the history of the first 40 years of Cool Aid and dug up all these source on my own. It took me over a year to come up with the facts that the organization then took and put some of them online. As I am the researcher and author, I feel my citations are correct. It is not my fault that the Times Colonist is not online - it is in the process of being digitized as I write but the work will not be done for several years.
Helen Edwards ````
- Since you posted this, your article has been moved to mainspace, at Victoria Cool Aid Society. So, no longer a problem for this noticeboard. If you still have a problem, discuss it on the article's talk page. Howicus (talk) 22:13, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- Actually there are worse problems here. Your research, according to this PDF, is copyrighted by the Victoria Cool Aid Society. When you quote entire paragraphs verbatim or closely paraphrase them, that's a copyright violation. In order for Misplaced Pages to use that content, the copyright holder (not you, apparently) would have to explicitly release that content under a free license that allows everybody to re-use it for any purpose, including commercial purposes. See WP:Requesting copyright permission. An example release form is here; it should be sent to permissions-en@wikimedia.org by an authorized representative of the Society. For now I'll remove those paragraphs. If permission is obtained they can be re-added; otherwise we'll have to rewrite that content in our own words.
- You may also want to have a look at our guideline on conflicts of interest. Heavily citing your own research may not be a good idea, especially if it was research done on behalf of the article's subject.
- Regarding MatthewVanitas' comment on your talk page, I don't see what's to resent. MatthewVanitas had no way of knowing that you were the author of that document and stated what it looked like to him. He also spent quite some effort tidying up your draft's layout and even adding new sources. How about thanking him for his effort instead of resenting his advice for further improvement? My article for creation was rejected, and I'd like to know what I did wrong. Could you please specifically state where I went wrong and how I could improve? I provided as much information as I could about Ammar Joukhadar, and I thought he deserved a place on Misplaced Pages for his milestones and inspiring life's work.
Thanks and best regards!
- As it says at the top of the page, your article did not have enough inline citations. You need to use footnotes to cite the information on the page. Hope this helps! Howicus (talk) 22:15, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/John Sharpe Rowland
I would really love to be able to post my article on Misplaced Pages talk: Articles for creation/John Sharpe Rowland, but I need more detailed help on what I need to do to fix this article, so that it will be acceptable. I think the person who edited my submission "EagerToddler" indicated that my footnotes were not in order. Can you refer me to a form/format that I need to use? Are there any other issues. I need specifics with examples. I just don't understand what I need to do. Thank you for any help that you can give. Paul DietrichPaul Dietrich (talk) 13:34, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- You actually had footnotes, but no references section to display them. I fixed that and accepted the draft. Huon (talk) 23:26, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Christian Lerch
hey, how are you?I would like to inquire why my article was declined, as it is. Could you help me to edit it so it is accepted?
Thanks, Ben
- The issue is that Christian Lerch does not seem notable enough for a Misplaced Pages article. Look at the guideline for the notability of people here for more information. Howicus (talk) 22:17, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- You have a single reliable third-party source, the Kurier article. All others are either primary sources such as his employers' websites or not reliable (such as Misplaced Pages itself). That's not enough to establish Lerch's notability. For that, we need multiple reliable third-party sources of at least a paragraph each about him, the more the better, but three to five at the very least. Huon (talk) 23:26, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Berendo Street and Avenue
Hello. My submission was declined just because nothing changed in the submission. But there was ONE change. I added citations. In previous submissions, there weren't any citations. So I need you to tell me what went wrong? Were citations no good? Did reviewer User:Martijn Hoekstra not notice the change? So I want to know my mistake and what I can do to make the article better. Thanks. 75.62.131.130 (talk) 18:15, 6 July 2013 (UTC) (P.S.: I'm the same person who wrote the article. It's my IP adress # that changed but I'm the same person. Also, I've been trying REALLY HARD on this article. I'm starting to feel like Misplaced Pages doesn't want my contributions. So I'm thinking about quiting 'cause based on the reasons for being rejected, it's getting more difficult to improve it. What should I do?)
Can you guys answer my question now? I'm not too patient! So I want my answer right now. i ask you kindly. Thanks.
- Ok, the main problem with the article is notability. Your article is about a street (and an avenue). But what make that street special? Why should that street have an article? That's the issue here: there's no real reason given why that specific street should have an article. Howicus (talk) 22:21, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- Oh yes there is Howicus. What makes the street special is the fact that antelopes wandered on this road. So miracously someone must have seen those antelopes on this road and that's why they decided to name one of the roads "Berendo". This is also the reason that this street should have an article. You understand Howicus? Don't take this message seriously as I write kindly, not harshly, kindly. Please reply A.S.A.P. 75.62.130.190 (talk) 02:01, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Dimitri Papadimos
...I am very disappointed with the stereotype rejection response I am receiving "not adequately supported by reliable sources" It would be more helpful if you can pinpoint which of the 10 references are not "reliable"...I am trying to create and English version of an article already in an another language already in wikipedia...Yani papadimos (talk) 19:14, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- Well, the first three references aren't about Papadimos, but rather about other photographers. Those sources don't show that Papadimos was notable. The fourth and fifth sources just show that his photos have been used on websites and in books, but that's not very noteworthy by itself. The sixth source is about one exposition in a small, non-notable gallery. The seventh source is another book that Papadimos did the photo for. The eight source just mentions Papadimos in passing, not establishing his notability. The ninth and tenth sources are books by Papadimos, which don't establish his notability either. Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Epiphany Eyewear
Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Epiphany Eyewear Dear Help Desk: Please help me with editing this article for submission "Epiphany Eyewear." Seems to been rejected just a few minutes ago. I have listed notable cites from The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Huffington Post, Venture Beat, and many more. I listed many External References which personally, I believe is a long list which can be edited down some. But I believe I need help in understanding why the article was rejected and what I can do to fix it so it is accepted. Thank you for your help. 301man (talk) 20:12, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- Yet four of the draft's eleven footnotes are to the company's own websites and the others are a mixed bag of more or less reliable sources none of which even come close to the level of the Wall Street Journal. If there are good sources out there, that's what the draft should be based on, not the company's own PR. Huon (talk) 23:26, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you Huon. I will rework it. I have a PDF of the Wall Street Journal Article, too and need to figure out how to upload it because the link to the WSJ doesn't work well unless you have an account to login. I didn't realize that until yesterday. Your help is appreciated. If you have any other suggestions or feel compelled to assist with the editing, I'd certainly appreciate your help. I've been hammering at being an editor for a few months and there's so much to learn. It's an amazing adventure to say the least! Thanks again for your input and help! 301man (talk) 21:34, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Huon: I reworked it and would like your feedback again. You've been very helpful. Appreciate your Talk with me. Thank you, 301man (talk) 23:53, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Anthony_Del_Col
To whom this may concern,
I am trying to submit a page, Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Anthony_Del_Col, but it has been rejected on the basis that the page is not supported by adequate reliable sources. Is the problem that I am not using enough sources, or is it that the sources I'm using are unreliable? If the latter, would someone indicate which sources are unreliable so I might fix them?
Many thanks,
Srz92 (talk) 22:04, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- Most of your sources, such as the film website or Del Col's publisher, are not reliable because they are not subject to editorial oversight and furthermore have a commercial interest in Del Col's success. The New York Times clearly is reliable, but it doesn't cover Del Col in any appreciable detail. I'd say CBC is the only reliable source that covers Del Col in any detail, but a single good source is not enough to establish that he's notable. Huon (talk) 23:26, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you for your response Huon. I found, what I hope, are some verifiable sources and added them in. Hope it goes through this time. Cheers! Srz92 (talk) 04:46, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Jane Emerssen
I need help to identify what more I can do.
'Jane Emerssen' is my pen name for the purposes of my latest venture into full-length fiction. All my previously published work, which has been largely non-fiction associated with giving advice over problems encountered in the recruitment and selection process, has been under my real name, Judith Johnstone. These books, published by How To Books, are now out of print but still available on Amazon. In December 2012, How To Books were bought by the publishers Constable & Robinson.
'A Necessary Fiction' is my first novel using my pen name. It is due to be published in August and I have been advised to begin a marketing strategy - hence this attempt to find a space on Misplaced Pages. Publication is being managed by Amolibros who have helped me set up a website under my pen name and details of the novel appear on my website. Judith Johnstone. (Stoneraise (talk) 10:07, 7 July 2013 (UTC))
- Sorry but Misplaced Pages is not interested in being part of your "marketing strategy", please read WP:ADVERT. Misplaced Pages is an encyclopedia, not an advertising medium. -- Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 10:42, 7 July 2013 (UTC)

- There are no references at all. Where did you find the information? You need to cite your sources in the article. The tone is also far too promotional - Misplaced Pages does not host advertising. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 12:33, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Marie-Françoise_Roy
THis article was declined due to lack of references. So now I am wondering: Is the reference http://smf.emath.fr/content/anciens-presidents ok (reliable in the Misplaced Pages sense)? And if I add http://www.ihes.fr/~carbone/papers/women.pdf would that make a difference. I am a bit confused, since it seems the article about Ms Roy on the German wikipedia site has fewer references than this one. LFajstrup (talk) 11:54, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
- The "smf.emath.fr" reference is just the subject's name in a list with dates - it tells us nothing about her. The ihes.fr document looks much better. Each language Misplaced Pages has its own rules and standards - en.WP is probably the strictest of all. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 12:25, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
- I've moved this into mainspace. She is clearly notable and the references are more than adequate. She was also awarded the Legion of Honour in 2009. Voceditenore (talk) 16:39, 7 July 2013 (UTC)

The second time my article has been decline. The article is lacking resources and references because the whole article is from the knowledge of the author. The choral group is a starting group, which clearly means, it's still lacking from references. I already put the most reliable sources possible.
- If those are the best references you can find, then your group may not be notable enough for Misplaced Pages. Take a look at WP:GNG for more on notability. Howicus (talk) 16:43, 7 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I am trying to submit this article but has been rejected because I need more citations. I have them however as the toolbar for adding citation seem not to work on my lapton all I can do is do it manually on the footnote but when I submit it there is only the number one of the citation but there is not the full citation and I cannot find a way to relate the reference in the text. Please let me know how I am supposed to proceed in this case. It is just a bit confusing.

Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Jordan Older
How many news articles are sufficient as evidence? I have one that is current and from a highly regarded, reputable and reliable 3rd party news agency. This should be sufficient. I also have other news articles from reliable and reputable news sources, official team web sites, and official game day stats from a fully professional league (listing and satisfying Misplaced Pages rules as to Football Association notability.)
- We require multiple reliable sources that devote at least a paragraph each to Older to establish his notability; the usual minimum is three to five, the more the better. Huon (talk) 01:35, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

- The vast majority of your sources suffers at least one of three problems: They are not reliable (this includes IMDb and Misplaced Pages itself), they are not independent (such as his Facebook page or the film companies he works for), or they don't provide any significant coverage but only mention him in passing, such as Variety. The only reliable third-party source that does cover him in some detail is Screen Comment, and a single source simply is not enough to establish his notability.
- Also, you shouldn't just have a bunch of footnotes in a separate section at the end; the purpose of footnotes is to clarify which source supports which of the draft's statements. For example, "Franklin Martin's Southern roots were the connection that led Martin to his first documentary" - says which source? You should add the footnotes for each citation immediately after the corresponding statement. Huon (talk) 01:35, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Patrik Hellman
Hello
I am planning to create an articel for all players in my favorite bandyteam Villa Lidkoping(http://en.wikipedia.org/Villa_Lidk%C3%B6ping_BK). I have already updated the team page so its up to date. Then I planned to create the player page in jersey number order. First is no 3 Patrik Hellman. But it was rejected and I cannot understand why.
I know its not complete but i didnt wanna sit for hours and finish it and then not getting it approved. I know its not a world wide sport and not an athletes like Usain Bolt or Leonel Messi but you have aproved other bandy players that is far from the swedish elite like: http://en.wikipedia.org/Lars_Johansson_%28bandy_player%29.
regards Henke Henkebandy (talk) 21:02, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
- Other problematic articles may exist, but that's not an excuse to create more; each submission must stand on its own merits. Your draft does not cite any reliable sources that are independent of the subject; we require significant coverage in such sources to establish that Hellman is notable enough for an article. You also don't have any significant content beyond the name, the nationality and a job description. Huon (talk) 01:35, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/World Mentoring Academy
Greetings I had our site submitted for inclusion in Misplaced Pages and they rejected based on citation issues. My question is, if we have no Media coverage, or books written about World Mentoring Academy, who do we cite for the site? We have lectured at USC to Code Camp,, etc. do we look for other websites comments and info about our site?
- Random websites on the internet are not considered reliable sources. We need published sources that are subject to editorial oversight, sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy. "No media coverage and no books" likely translates into "not notable enough for a Wikiepdia article". Huon (talk) 01:35, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Depth of Knowledge
The editor has rejected the article Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Depth of Knowledge for the following reasons:
1. Apparently I have mistakenly submitted a duplicate of the same article. 2. I used too many references for one of the statements.
As for Item 1, I am not sure what do. Undoubtedly I submitted the same article twice by mistake, but I am not sure how to fix the problem. I cannot find a unique identifier for each article submission, so I don't know which article to keep and which to delete.

- This seems resolved; the article has been accepted and is now at Amara Mohamed Konneh. For the record, the reason for the last rejection was a lack of inline citations, and the article could still do with more of those. Huon (talk) 01:35, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Template:MTS line dots
A question:
I recently submitted Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Template:MTS line dots for template creation, but the submission was rejected because the template was considered to be a "test edit" - presumably because the page I was intending to use this template for (a "List of San Diego Trolley stations") hasn't itself been submitted or created yet. I had intended to create the template first, so it would already be 'active' when I attempt to create the "List of San Diego Trolley stations" in the near future.
So my question is - is there a way for me to "bundle" the submission of the "List of San Diego Trolley stations" and its accompanying "MTS line dots" (probably not the best title...) template when I'm ready to submit the former?
I'm assuming it's more likely that the template submission would be approved that way, and I'd really like the template to be working the same time that the "List of San Diego Trolley stations" page is hopefully accepted and put in to the system.
Any suggestions that can be offered on this will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. --IJBall (talk) 23:16, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
- I don't think you can bundle submissions, but I also don't think the lack of the article is the reason for declining the template (though it may be easier to add the code to the article itself if the template is to be used on one article only). Rather, the documentation is so vague that the reviewer probably didn't realize how this template works in the first place. An example of use and a list of available parameters should definitely be included in the documentation. Huon (talk) 01:35, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
- I was actually thinking it was likely I was going to revise the Station tables on the pages for the individual lines for the San Diego Trolley afterwards (removing the SDMTS icons for the lines, which I suspect are trademarked, so probably shouldn't be used on Wiki), so it was likely I was going to use the template more than once.
- But thanks for the reply. --IJBall (talk) 02:18, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Brad fanshaw
I submitted an article and it was rejected as not notable enough. What gives? This guy is a titan in the car industry, a television personality and a radio broadcaster. I wanted to write this because I Googled him and discovered that he is not on wikipedia (I never did figure out his year of birth, which is what I was interest in). I sourced everything to reliable neutral sources. How do I get this article published?
- You need to show that Fanshaw was the subject of significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Most of your sources either are not independent, or they provide only trivial coverage of the "... said Fanshaw" variety. Besides, "respectfully in awe of those two legends was Brad Fanshaw" doesn't quite sound as if he's a titan. Huon (talk) 01:35, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Maciej Tarnogrodzki
Hi,
I submitted article http://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Maciej_Tarnogrodzki which was reviewed initially by Sarah Stierch. There was a comment from Sarah Comment: Sadly there is only one reliable source here. Surely there must be more news coverage about the subject. Team/club websites do not count. Thanks! SarahStierch (talk) 18:13, 20 May 2013
The article was corrected and new reliable source was added from national newspaper Irish Mirror as requested. From that time article was rejected couple of times after submission by other reviewers( not Sarah as I think she wasn't available) but without any explanation why. The issue was fixed for Sarah submission.
Can you please advise as I'm stuck with this article.

- This is the right place. I agree that the decline reason provided by User:RadioFan does not seem to make a lot of sense. - The reasons that the article submission Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Julien Ngoy was declined, are explained at the top of the article submission. In particular, the submission only lists one source.
- I would add that the wording of the submission is not very neutral, for example "Word has spread across Europe about his exciting talent and he is being regarded as one of the brightest upcoming talent in European football". Arthur goes shopping (talk) 10:15, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

Can you please suggest why this article has be not accepted. It has been covered in the newspapers also. It is big brand in the eCommerce market in India. Hope you heed kind attention to the matter.
- The source in The Hindu only mentions CCAvenue in passing - it is not significant coverage. The source in the Times of India does not appear to mention CCAvenue at all? - To prove notability, there need to be references proving that there is significant coverage in multiple independent reliable sources. Just one or two is not enough. One of the strongest sources here is the Guardian piece. It is indeed very flattering about her, but has a total of only two paragraphs about her. For material of this length, more than one or two such sources are needed. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 12:04, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Permyak salty ears
I just don't understand why this article has been rejected for a second time by someone calling himself Arctic Kangaroo. All I have done is to translate the Russian language page of Misplaced Pages http://ru.wikipedia.org/Пермяк_солёные_уши into English. The first time, OK, I didn't give a reference to the Russian page and the person who checked it maybe didn't realise that it was just a translation. But the second time I submitted it I included the address of the Russian page at the end of the article under references. What else do you want? I wrote that after the article had been accepted I would remove that reference and cross reference the two pages on the left hand side under Languages.
- See, other Misplaced Pages pages should not be listed in the references at all, since Misplaced Pages is not a reliable source. Remove those references, and add more independent, reliable sources instead. Howicus (talk) 17:14, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Jane Emerssen
Hi again. This is an add-on to my query of 5 July.
I want to emphasise it is not my intention to regard Misplaced Pages as a marketing tool. I am seeking a presence to establish the fact that 'Jane Emerssen' is an established author for those parties likely to be interested. I have chosen to write fiction under a pseudonym because my non-fiction work is still out there even though it is out of print, and I didn't want these books coming up on search engines because it muddies the waters - there is already another Judith Johnstone who writes on New Age topics.
I have copies of reviews relating to my non-fiction books sent to me by the Promotions Manager of How To Books, Regina Schinner, from 1993 up until 2005. These are a mix of journals and national newspapers in the UK. I can quote the dates and names of the publications if this helps with validation. Up until 2009 the various editions of my How To Books sold a total of 50,000+ copies and I am still in receipt of funds from Public Lending Rights and duplicating fees through the Authors' Licensing and Collecting Society.
I have also been a member of the Society of Authors since December 1990 and as a professional personnel practitioner I qualified as a Member of the Institute of Personnel and Development (IPD) in 1994. The Institute received its Royal Charter on 1 July 2000 becoming the CIPD and on 1 October 2003, full members were awarded charter status automatically. Although I have retired from full-time employment I remain a Chartered Member of the CIPD.
Does any of the above help me? If so, how do I go about incorporating it into my article?(Stoneraise (talk) 16:14, 8 July 2013 (UTC))
- If you have better references, by all means add them. As it is, none of the references in the article are acceptable. Misplaced Pages requires independent, reliable sources to establish the notability of the article subject. Your own website is not independent of you, and neither is any site that's selling things, like Amazon. Howicus (talk) 17:18, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Wood Stabilization
I have written an article on wood stabilization which has been rejected twice as "This submission reads more like an essay than an encyclopedia article." The article is a science based record of wood stabilizing processes similar to any technical processes described in Misplaced Pages. I do not understand the comment that it reads like an essay. It is a hard line to walk, writing articles which do not overly plagiarize others works and yet not have it described as personal opinion.
I think this article would be useful to others who are looking for information on wood stabilizing. Thanks for any help I can get Edger66 (talk) 17:05, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
- Plagiarizing is where you take exact words, or almost exact words. As you assume, Misplaced Pages cannot accept plagiarism. However, repeating ideas in different words is not plagiarism. That's what you should do - write others ideas in your own words, and cite them. Look at examples of featured articles to see appropriate style, tone, and organization. ~Charmlet 23:17, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Intelligent InSites
Hi, I'd like some feedback on an article I wrote that got rejected on June 15th. I've since made some changes on making the content more neutral, formatting, and on references. I'd like to make sure the article is good enough for approval once I resubmit it. Could an experienced editor please provide suggestions/feedback for my article Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Intelligent InSites? Thanks! InSiteful13 (talk) 21:39, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

- Question: This looks to be the only AfC draft you've ever edited, and it was declined. Is there a draft I'm not finding? ~Charmlet 00:27, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Epiphany Eyewear
Hello and thank you for helping me with this article for submission. I fixed all the cites and references which were the only things I was told were issues for the article to be approved. Today, someone else said it sounds like an advertisement. So, I removed anything that may lead anyone to think that. Please take a look at the submission and tell me what to do. I've worked very hard at this page and want to get it accepted. I need to know what exactly to do to to satisfy the review board. Thank you, 301man (talk) 00:58, 9 July 2013 (UTC)

Review of Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/SpaceTEC National Resource Center for Aerospace Technical Education
Hi. I have added citations to http://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/SpaceTEC_National_Resource_Center_for_Aerospace_Technical_Education in response to an issue with notability. How do I notify those who filed the declination of the article? AMKJR 01:45, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
