Confirmation name

I have just checked with some Mexican religious sisters and found that taking a Confirmation name is quite unknown in their country, which might conceivably have been influenced by the Anglophone country to the north. A Spanish priest has also confirmed (please excuse the use of this word in a sense other than that of the article) what I already knew, that the custom is unknown in Spain.

I suspect that the Anglophone countries all got the custom from Ireland, which certainly adopted several French (as opposed to, say, Italian) religious customs at the dawn of religious emancipation in that country. I expect therefore that the custom also exists in France, but am unable just now to check.

I presume that your statement about German-speaking countries is based on certain knowledge.

The reason I omitted the book you mention is that, to have this not internationally known book reckoned a verifiable source worth citing, you must give, if not its ISBN number, at least the publisher or the place and date of its publication. Otherwise, it might be taken to be just some obscure booklet put together by some unauthorized individual out in Tangmalangmaloo. This time, I have left mention of the book in, expecting you to provide that necessary information.

Other changes are for style or exactitude. In particular, though the name is chosen beforehand, it is actually adopted (made one's own) only at confirmation and thus by someone who has passed beyond the stage of being merely a candidate to the stage of being a "confirmand", having been selected or accepted for Confirmation.

I don't know whether you're watching Pro-choice, but you're one of the people who's re-added tags to it, so I thought I'd ask whether you could please back those up with some specific suggestions on how to improve the article. I went to the Confirmation article when I got your message, and I was just reading through it and checking recent edits, when something happened that put it out of my mind for a while.
