A Million Ways to Die in the West is an upcoming 2014 American comedy western film directed by Seth MacFarlane and written by MacFarlane, Alec Sulkin, and Wellesley Wild. The film will star MacFarlane himself along with Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfried, Liam Neeson, Giovanni Ribisi, Sarah Silverman and Neil Patrick Harris. It will be produced by Media Rights Capital and distributed by Universal Pictures. The film is currently scheduled to be released on May 30, 2014.

Plot

A sheep farmer, who lacks courage, loses his beloved female partner as a result of him withdrawing a duel. He soon meets another lady, and discovers his bravery and confidence. The herder soon realises his true potential when the lady's spouse, an infamous criminal, demands payback.

Production

The film was first announced on December 3, 2012. On January 30, 2013, it was announced that Charlize Theron had joined the film. On February 11, 2013, it was announced Amanda Seyfried had joined the film. On March 6, 2013, it was announced Liam Neeson and Giovanni Ribisi had joined the film. On March 18, 2013, it was announced that Sarah Silverman was cast to play a prostitute in the film. On May 10, 2013, it was announced that the film would be co-financed Universal Pictures and Media Rights Capital and that the film would be distributed by Universal Pictures.

According to Media Rights Capital, the film began filming in early May 2013. Filming locations include areas in New Mexico, including the Santa Fe Studio.
