Cannalonga is a municipality in the Region of Campania, Provence of Salerno, The number of registered inhabitants are 1.144 (M 568, F 576) (from ISTAT 2001). The most common family name is Cortazzo (36 families). There are 69 different familiy names.
History
The municipality was founded between the 9 and 10 century a.D.. It became well known in the region around 1450 when the tradition of the festival 'fiera di Santa Lucia' started. Today this festival is better known as Fiera della Frecagnola.
The official saint is San Toribio (1538–1606), a Archbishop of Lima (Peru) from the Spanish nobility. He became famous for his fight for the natives against the Spanish masters.

Geography
The municipality covers an area of 17.74 km², located at 530 meters above sea level. The nearest town is Vallo della Lucania, 3 km south.
