"Cheatty Cheatty Bang Bang"

"Cheatty Cheatty Bang Bang" is episode 3 of season 2 of the television show Veronica Mars. It had an estimated audience size of 3.03 million US viewers on its first airing.

Plot

Cassidy suspects that his new stepmom, Kendall, is sleeping around on his dad, so he hires Veronica to get the 'money shot'. She does this, discovering that Kendall has infact been sleeping with Veronica's ex boyfriend Logan. However, she also finds out that Cassidy's dad is cheating investors about property. Keith and Alicia go to Chicago, but encounter a surprise. But the biggest surprise is saved for Veronica when Sheriff Lamb tells her about the dead body that washed up on the beach with "Veronica Mars" written on his hand.

Arc significance

  • In Chicago, a man (later revealed as a police officer) sees Alicia and calls her "Cher" and "Cherie". Alicia tells Keith she doesn't know who he is.
  • The body on the beach was David "Curly" Moran. When Lamb shows Veronica a picture of him, she remembers him as the man she helped light a candle for when visiting the scene of the bus crash with Jessie Doyle (in the previous episode). She later finds out that he was a mechanic who used to be a stunt coordinator for Aaron Echolls' first big movie, The Long Haul. The stunt he coordinated of a truck crashing off-road into the sea was the same as the bus accident which killed 6 of Veronica's classmates, and meant to include Veronica herself.
  • Cassidy gets pictures of Logan and Kendall together and shows them to his dad. At the same time, SEC investigators arrive and Richard Casablancas (correctly) deduces that the private investigator Cassidy had hired (Veronica) must have also discovered that his business was a fraud. He tells his employees to shred everything and leaves in a helicopter as the SEC enter the office.
