Template documentation

This child template contains all relevant data on open arbitration cases displayed by {{Casenav}}. Data can be deleted here once a case has closed.

Opening cases

When opening a case, add the below parameters to the top of the template, adding the exact casename before the dashes and providing the known values as indicated.

|-clerk1=
|-clerk2=
|-draft1=
|-draft2=
|-active=
|-inactive=
|-recused=
|-date-opened=
|-date-evidence=Unless specified otherwise, two weeks after case opens
|-date-workshop=Unless specified otherwise, a further one week
|-date-pd=Unless specified otherwise, last one week
|-list=
'''Active:'''
#
'''Inactive:'''
#
'''Recused:'''
#

(For the list of arbitrators by activity to be used in new cases, see Misplaced Pages:Arbitration Committee#Members. If there are no '''Recused:''' arbitrators, this heading should be omitted from the -list=.)

After adding the data, ensure that {{Casenav}} is placed at the top of each case page and case talk page.

Updating activity levels

When an Arbitrator becomes active or inactive, they usually do so on multiple cases. This template makes it possible for a Clerk to update the tallies and lists of active/inactive arbitrators for all cases at once.

Please note that Arbitrators sometimes deal differently with the transition from away/inactive to active status, depending on how long they were away, how many cases are pending at the time, and personal preferences. For example, one arbitrator might ask to be moved to active on all pending cases, while another might choose to become active only on new cases accepted after returning, or only on cases where they actually vote on the decision. If the arbitrator's desire is unclear, they should be queried. The one definite rule is that an arbitrator must be listed as active on any case where they voted on the proposed decision.

Closing cases

The Clerk who closes the case should substitute the closed casenav template on each case page at the time of closing with {{subst:Casenav/closed}}. This will hardcode the values onto the relevant pages. Please then ensure that the data is properly hardcoded on the case pages. However, as of February 2012, you should not remove a closed case from this data template until it is removed entirely (ie from the Recently closed section) of Template:ACOT.
