She stayed on the show for three seasons before leaving in 2000. Her other television credits include L.A. Law, Chicago Hope, Martin, Seinfeld, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Law & Order and among others.
She also co-starred with then future Spin City co-star Michael Boatman in the 1994 film The Glass Shield
She also played Betty Shabazz in the 2001 film Ali, and was a long-time girlfriend of actor Laurence Fishburne.
