Your submission at Articles for creation: Mike "Greeny" Green (August 6)
Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Arthur goes shopping was: This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Misplaced Pages's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Misplaced Pages, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies. Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit when they have been resolved.- If you would like to continue working on the submission, go to Draft:Mike "Greeny" Green and click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the window.

The reason left by Sulfurboy was: This submission's references do not adequately show the subject's notability—see the guidelines on the notability of people and the golden rule. Please improve the submission's referencing, so that the information is verifiable, and there is clear evidence of why the subject is notable and worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia. What you can do: Add citations (see Misplaced Pages:Referencing for beginners) to secondary reliable sources that are entirely independent of the subject. Your submission at Articles for creation: Mike "Greeny" Green (November 1)
Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Bearcat was: The referencing is still far too strongly dependent on press releases from universities' public relations departments and on university or college student newspapers, which are not considered reliable sourcing -- the article contains very few sources that can validly support a credible claim of notability under Misplaced Pages's inclusion rules. Further, the article is still written far too much like a public relations profile, and not enough like an encyclopedia article; the overall writing tone has not been substantively revised since the first decline. Creator is also advised to familiarize himself with Misplaced Pages's conflict of interest rules.

- What you need to understand is that "sources which are acceptable for confirmation of facts" and "sources which actually count toward demonstrating notability" are two different things. A source can be perfectly fine for the first thing, but fail to contribute anything toward the second.
- Reliable sources, for our purposes, are general-market daily newspapers in media markets of at least regional prominence, general interest newsstand magazines, academic journals, television and radio coverage, books and on and so forth. It's not press releases, regardless of what type of organization they're coming from, because those are primary sources. And itt's not student fraternity or sorority magazines like The Rattle, or student newspapers like the East Tennessean. Sources like that may be acceptable for some supplementary confirmation of facts after you've already covered off the basic notability question with adequate sourcing of the type I mentioned in the first sentence of this paragraph, but press releases and student media do not count toward accruing notability, so they cannot be the foundation of an article's sourcing.
- Out of all the sources in the entire article, the only two that actually count for anything at all toward demonstrating notability are the Chronicle of Higher Education and the Washington Post — but you're only citing one article from the Chronicle, and the Post isn't supporting any facts that would actually get him into an encyclopedia by themselves (it just namechecks his existence in a list of marathon finishers, and isn't actually substantive coverage about him.) So all there really is is the one Chronicle of Higher Education article, but one article isn't enough to get a person into Misplaced Pages by itself if all of the other sourcing is to press releases and student media.
- Hope that helps a bit. Bearcat (talk) 19:46, 1 November 2015 (UTC)

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Misplaced Pages, as you did at Draft:Mike "Greeny" Green. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted or removed.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor then please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page. Alternatively you can read Misplaced Pages's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant notice boards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Misplaced Pages's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
Please ensure you are familiar with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive, until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively could result in loss of editing privileges. Continuing to resubmit this draft without following advice is tendentious. You were advised to trim the "Awards" section, for instance. You were advised to add wiki-links, and added malformed wiki-links, suggesting that you didn't view it. Note that the policy states that contributing to Misplaced Pages about yourself, family, friends, clients, employers, or your financial or other relationships is strongly discouraged.
