NASCAR Thunder 2002 is a racing simulator video game developed by EA Tiburon and published by EA Sports and released on August 8, 2001 for the PlayStation, Playstation 2, and Xbox. It is the fifth game in the NASCAR series of video games, and is the first of the series to have a new title (The other games simply read "NASCAR" and then the year).
Trivia
- Dale Earnhardt was cut out from the game, after his death on February 18, 2001. But the player can unlock him by purchasing his thunder plate.
- All alcohol sponsors were cut from the game and the sponsor was replaced with the driver's name or team. On Mark Martin's Car, Viagra was also replaced with his name.
- Before the intro to the game, a Dale Earnhardt number 3 is shown as a tribute to him.
