Unite The Right is a conservative and alt-right gathering planned for August 12th, 2017. Notable speakers include conservative speakers Tim Treadstone, Jason Kessler, and Christopher Cantwell; along with alt-right activists Richard Spencer, Mike Enoch, and League of the South founder Michael Hill.

The rally has been the scene of expected protests, due to white nationalists being speakers at the event.

Rally

Expected turnout is 4,000. An estimate from the Southern Poverty Law Center estimated thousands attending. The rally is to protest the removal of a statue of Robert E. Lee.

Reaction

Senator Tim Kaine stated that he hoped it would encourage dialogue, but condemned the rally. College President urged students to stay away from the rally due to possibe violence between the far-right and ANTIFA rioters.
